The lovely staff went above and beyond yesterday evening. We booked a table for 9 people and I thought that we would have to leave as I have a Soya allergy and much of the menu was off limits, due to Soya bean oil being used. Chef Rob took the time to highlight what could be done - they have a little fryer that could be filled with Rapeseed oil. He was very knowledgeable - and understanding - about allergens. As a Food Safety Consultant, and co owner of a Bistro, this was so good to hear. The friendliness of the staff made for a really lovely experience - so needed as Ava and I are short staffed and we’re feeling a little ‘fragile’. Many, many thanks to Rob (chef), Tups (Kp), Anthony and Jackie (front of house) for their care and service. It is very rare to find establishments that truly care about their customers, and work to the same standard as we do. Rob - you made such a difference. I am the least person to make a fuss. Thank you so much. You are a credit to our profession - and the food was delicious, too xxx
We had a lovely lunch at The Birdham at Bembridge. Arriving on a Friday lunchtime without a reservation, we were very warmly welcomed by Jackie and given a choice of table. The service was attentive and prompt throughout, with a warm, friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. More details about food follow. New Years Eve with friends 2024 Summary -Menu is appreciating on reading this isn't reflected in the food served. Very disappointed in the food, very limited choice after showing a vegan menu then to be told they weren't cooking from.that as it was NYE. I'm.not vegan but intolerant of dairy egg and gluten. I ended up having a bland celeriac soup, chips n salad as main but a nice Vegan carrot cake as dessert. There are no Fillet Steaks on menu and the sirloin was sinewy, fish pies dry as if they been left prepped too long. Desserts lovely. Staff were very helpful but we were all disappointed and the menu on line doesn't mean it's on the menu when you are there - I was told that was only a sample. I'm sad as we much prefer to support family business rather than national companies.
We had a really good Sunday lunch. Food was great - we enjoyed the carvery. Great selection for the kids too. Service slightly slow during our visit, but it was 1pm on a Sunday service, so it was busy. We'll definitely be going back! 😁
Went here for dinner and despite being put in a very gloomy room in the back of the dining area, the food that arrived didn’t disappoint. Had mussels in creamy white sauce (it’s a starter and asked it be my main) with fries and truffle sauce. Whilst my partner got sausage and mash. We both had crispy pork as our starter. All dishes were fantastic, good quality and tasted great! The ambiance can look like it needs a bit of a modernisation however the quality of the food served to us made the most impact.

The Pilot Boat Inn is the only pub with accommodation on Bembridge harbour. The bar is the tap room for Wight Knuckle Brewery and serves craft beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. In partnership with Hot Box the pub serves artisan pizzas.
