After a major refurbishment, we threw our doors open in January 2020 to the good folk of Edinburgh and beyond. We offer fresh, local produce and traditional Scottish dishes, a great selection of single malt whiskies, local gins, craft beers and cocktails. Our team have a great knowledge of the local area and will keep you entertained with tales of ghosts and ghouls from Edinburgh’s sordid past. With live music 7 nights a week, we have something for everyone!.

This pub really lived up to the reviews but more importantly the staff friendliness and care added to the evening experience. Special mention to Ewan the most respectful, engaging staff member who does the Piper's Rest credit. Along with the delicious food, the night was really enjoyable and we left with satisfied bellies and smiles on our faces.
Thought I'd give this place a go due to the positive reviews. Everything was fine except the service which could do with slight improvement. The waiter who served me, twice tried to take my plate away without asking if I was finished (I wasn't). And the waitress who served me dessert wasn't very careful with putting the plate down on the table. For that reason, I didn't tip, something I normally do. Shame as the food was pretty good, as was the atmosphere and aesthetics. Also, please fix the narrow door's, it's difficult to open both.
Beautiful pub with a vibrant atmosphere. Good service and great food. I recommend everyone to try the steak pie. Hands-down one of the best meat pies I've ever had. They also have live music for those who are into that. Edinburgh, Scotland
After a long day in Edinburgh we chose to visit this little Jen of a place. The food was served quickly and was of a very good standard. The mash was to die for. The service was really good. Polite friendly and happy staff made our visit a pleasant one. The restaurant was a beautiful little place full of character and very appealing .
We stopped by for dinner. There was a bit of a wait, but we were able to enjoy drinks at the bar until a table was available. Make a reservation, if you can. The staff were great across the board. Very friendly. Ben served our table. He was great and recommended some nice dishes. Try the haggis tower starter. It was delicious. Steak pie was tasty and hearty. Mince and tatties were good. The meat part was the best. Add in a nice pint, and you've got a great dinner experience.
