Went for a meal on sat 13th January for pie chips and peas, the food was very basic and in my opinion over priced, 14.95 .when you can get a carvery 5 miles away for 10.99 and is a lot better..they should price their food accordingly, especially as it's home made so seems to be for maximum profit, I don't know what the people who give good reviews eat at home but they need to try elsewhere.
I popped into The Swan today for a couple of pints and decided to get a takeaway meal. The place was busy, really busy, and the amount of arriving and departing customers seemed never ending. Even though visibly under pressure the staff were organised, friendly and polite. The food and service were really good and I would highly recommend The Swan for some decent home cooked food in a proper independent pub. (It looks like booking would be a good option though!) Great, proper pub grub. Top choice of Pies, other traditional meals . Good choice of cask ales too. Recommended
It’s a shame its now fronted by ignorant, rude and inexperienced kids. We’ve been coming here for the last 25yrs and the last two times we’ve visited we’ve had almost exactly the same experience. The food is quite nice but the service is terrible. The last time we came one of the staff said “why have you let them sit outside without paying…” literally whilst I was stood at the bar waiting to pay! I called them up on it and they pretended they were talking about another table even though they quoted our table number. We visited again on Sunday and both times I went to the bar for drinks one of the young ladies said “get table 7 off in 10 mins as we’ve another booking waiting” then at my second visit she said “has someone told table 7 to go yet??” NOBODY told us we had less than 2hrs (table of 12) to turnaround our table upon booking. I told them this when I heard them shouting this across the bar and I was given a weak apology.
Great old worldy pub with a fab menu, plenty to choose from and a good pint as well.
