Dirty pub, particularly the toilets. Seriously in need of a deep clean, put me completely off my pint. Pint was ok but had a line cleaner aftertaste. Shame is there is no choice of anything other than Thornbridge on tap. Disappointing really, won’t be back again.
Great pub , always an excellent atmosphere and staff are fab, love it around Christmas time with the heated area outside , great for a decent pint , can’t comment on the food but will visit sometime in the future
We've been going to the stag for years and it's always been one of our favourite pubs in sheffield but our recent visit was disappointing. The pub just felt very grimey. For example we tried two different tables and both were very sticky and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. One of the toilets was out of order which maybe couldn't be helped but the toilet that was working was in a bit of mess with toilet roll everywhere. Not a big deal but it's just a drop from its normally high standards. We also had quite a bad experience with staff where we asked what time they stopped serving food and was told 9 and then when we tried to order dessert at 8:50 were told quite rudely, by someone who seemed to be the senior staff member, that the kitchen was shut. Again not a huge issue but it just left a bit of a cloud over a place we normally love. I don't know if there has been some changes lately or if it's just an off day but its put us off and probably wouldnt recommend to other people going forward.
Service was okay, but you have to pay by card. COVID is over now a five pond note will not kill you. Not the cheapest beer and the range of ales at my time of visit were mostly high in the ABV dept.
Excellent beer and food. Staff really friendly. Good outside space. Dog friendly. Pay by card only - no cash.
