About us

Sample the well looked after local cask ales and more unusual draught lagers such as Kirin Ichiban and Birra Moretti. We always have at least three well kept local cask ales. 'Cask Marque' and 'Siba Local' independently accredited cask ales.

Guest Ales this month - Kelham Island Brewery "King of the Rocket Men" and Bradfield Brewery "Blueberry Bitter"

We have two weekly quizzes with a difference every Tuesday at 9pm and Sunday from 8pm. Free entry, £30+ bar tab for the winner and other prizes for the runner-ups.

Good music and nice venue. Think they make the prices up as they go along though, charged wildly different each time

Once a decent pub now turned in to a completely vapid bar devoid of any personality whatsoever. Horrendous. Whoever redesigned this needs to be put in jail. Service is fine my review is purely based on the pub itself.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon when there was live music. Great singer, great atmosphere, apparently a regular thing. Good choice of beer with fantastic service.

We went for the pub quiz on the Tuesday, it was hard but sooo fun, such a good atmosphere, lots of people so get there early for a seat. Paid parking until 8:30 then it's free on street.

HMMM. I've been visiting the Porter Cottage for over 20 years; it's always been a cracking pub. I went in last week and was shocked/disappointed at what I saw. What was once a 'local pub' has now been turned into a faceless, soleless bar. Literally - the old bar (that's probably been there for over 100 years) has been ripped out and replaced with some cheap (what looks like) old scaffold boards. Don't get me wrong I'm not against change; but this is one step too far.
