About us

First and foremost, our pub is a thriving local watering hole that has been keeping locals’ thirst at bay for over 300 years. We will carry on doing exactly that, with a range of great ales, interesting wines and the addition of a small, daily changing bar menu.

Alongside the bar, we now offer a small, daily changing, seasonal menu in our dining room. We use the very best produce that the Vale of Glamorgan has to offer. Here in the Vale we have some of the most productive soil in the UK, which gives us meat, vegetables and game of the highest quality. The produce available to us from the best Vale producers, our own kitchen garden and our smallholding up the lane, dictate what is on the menu from day to day.

Everything is made from scratch in our kitchen, from our own sourdough bread and cultured butter, to our charcuterie and fresh pasta. This is not pretentious fine dining; its just about good food, whether you’ve been for a long walk with your dog or have got something to celebrate. It is a type of regional Welsh cooking.

We were a large party of 10, lots of kids we were made to feel really welcome, the service was impeccable! Really helpful and knowledgable about their food. Beer was awesome they had tribute on cask and neck-oil on draft. The food was awesome, we had the special, special it was! Pie was large good wholesome menu, comfort food. Absolutely would come again, great for winter with an open fire burning and locals playing chess.

Came here for the the fist time for a Sunday lunch (wont be the last). Delicious, freshly cooked, seasonal food in a cozy country pub setting. I had the Heritage tomatoes for starter, salt baked beetroot, sage and perl las gnocchi for main which was an outstanding veggie option followed by a love apple Soufflé for dessert (wow). My friend had the lamb dish which she said was perfect. Best meal i’ve had in ages, staff are friendly, great service, you can see why they hold a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide. Worth every penny I’ll be back!.

Delicious, unpretentious and seasonal food made from locally sourced produce. The specials menu was interesting and the staff extremely knowledgable and friendly. Recommend to book lunch early as they had run out of some dishes by the time we ate at 3pm.
