Went for a quiet drink with the wife, it wasn’t a particularly busy day yet the Bar was the most unorganised bat I’ve ever been to to make one drink it involved the barman walking up and down the bar looking for the basic ingredients (this was my first drink!) On my return for my second drink I found myself in a que (that’s to be expected when a big place like this has a tiny bar and only 1 bar staff but about 6 service staff) after waiting for 10 mins (yes they were that slow) a large party came in and stood alongside the bar and not in the que. The barman then decided to mug off all those in the que to serve the more profitable large group. Oh well The Half Moon lost around £60 of drinks and £40 of food that I was going to order and another more inviting pub in Shaftesbury got my business instead.

Our fitter stayed here last night and has just called me to post a review on the excellent stay he had there last night. The rooms are adjacent from the pub so lovely and quiet, plenty of parking, breakfast was fantastic and hosts were a pleasure. Thank you. You're on my preferred list of venues for our fitters and we will be using you again!, Best, Linda and the team at American Shutters.

Food the star of our one night stay. Very good prices for accommodation,food and drink. Comfortable room firm beds. Rooms situated away from the pub but not too far brollies provided. 2 intimate smoking areas provided. I had pate and the sirloin steak meal. My husband had pate and the homemade burger. The late was to die for and it's the only time in 10years I have had a steak cooked exactly as I wanted. The server in the restaurant was a gem young efficient courteous quite an asset to the business. Breakfast tasty and filling washed down with filter coffee. Would recommend

Just of the beaten path, the pub and guest house offers clean and comfortable accommodations in a beautiful setting. The hosts are friendly and served great traditional foods and desserts was everything we wanted in a our travels.

Stayed 2 nights for a quick business trip in the area. I arrived at 8am (far earlier than reasonable for check in) after some 30 hours of travel. Andrew happily let me in to an unused room to use the shower facilities, then still checked me into my booked room later that day! Would not even accept added payment for the extra cleaning works. Friendly staff all round, good local bar and great food. Would recommend. Thanks!
