The Ship Inn, known locally as the Top Ship, is one of the oldest inns on Exmoor, with roaring log burners in the winter and a large outdoor seating area and children’s play area for the summer months. We have ample bar and restaurant space and pride ourselves in offering great service and serving a varied selection of homemade meals and snacks. Pets are most welcome and on-site car parking is available.

Called in The Ship on Sunday 15th Oct, it's a lovely pub, great choice of beers . We decided to order some food and wasn't disappointed. The lamb Sunday lunch was excellent and my wife's curry was full of flavour. The staff are friendly and atmosphere of this traditional pub so good.
We ate in the ship on numerous occasions during our trip. Always managed to squeeze us in. Food was always excellent. Beer was good especially the Exmoor ale. The staff we couldn't fault at all. Would definitely recommend a visit. The pub does let dogs in, which I great, but even as a dog owner, can be overwhelming. Though this is due to the dog owners not the management.
Popped in for a Sunday roast. It was really delicious! Vegetarian and Vegan options available which we're tasty. Dog friendly. Booking recommended. Staff friendly and food was fairly quick.
We've been to the shop quite a few times whilst visiting Porlock over the last 20 years and it never fails. Beautiful food, great drink and atmosphere. The staff are all really friendly and very attentive. A big 10.
Beautiful pub and lovely atmosphere. Appreciated that they allowed dogs in the bar. My partners steak was delicious and so were my onion rings. However, scallop starter - 3 scallops (no chorizo as stated on menu) and cheesecake pudding tiny slice and not good. Real shame, some hearty potions and some inexplicably small! Missed out on 5 stars. Didn’t complain as didn’t want to spoil a romantic dinner!
