Why we love Frome

One of Somerset’s largest towns, there is much to love about this picture-postcard location. Covering all itineraries, there’s a rich variety of things to do in Frome. With historic 15th-century buildings, quaint markets and artisan shopping areas at locations like Catherine Hill, it’s a hotbed for culture. To retrace the town’s history and the people that formed it, the Frome Heritage Museum offers an insightful story into the past – a seven-minute drive away from here. For creatures great and small, Longleat is perfect for a family day out in Frome with the little ones. Only 15 minutes away by car, exotic species from every corner of the globe await. From dramatic gorges to leafy woodlands, a visit wouldn’t be complete without a ramble through the Mendip Hills – just over a 30-minute drive away. It’s a feast for the eyes and the imagination. Victoria Park, the Merlin Theatre, Stourhead and Nunney Castle are other attractions we’d recommend checking out whilst you’re here. Paired with a visit to our charming Beefeater restaurant, you’re truly in for an unforgettable adventure in Somerset.

This is a shout out to Natalie who gave us a great service. Our welcome was not great as we were greeted with we are a skeleton staff and you can’t eat until 5 and my residents come first! At 5 we asked again to be seated and Natalie was our waitress the food was average we had steaks but her service was absolutely outstanding! Thank you Natalie definitely manager material!

For my Birthday I'd received an email from the Frome Flyer Beefeater offering me a free meal, which I was happy to accept. On previous visits there we had enjoyed the Sunday roasts but this time we booked for Sunday evening. Greeted warmly by the waiter and Mr. Mark the manager, who had a good table for us and quickly brought our drinks. Our food was tasty and I also enjoyed a couple of Birthday cocktails (2 for a tenner) from Natalie, our friendly waitress. I'm glad I joined the Beefeater Rewards club, and gratefully enjoyed my free Birthday meal. Looking forward to our next visit soon.

Couldn't fault the plated lamb roast, beautifully cooked and really tasty. Definitely value for money. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating, was just a shame about the torn, tired and dirty furnishings letting the place down.

Very busy Friday evening. Had booked in advance and got seated straight away. Starters were amazing. With main, had to go ask for a sauce I ordered and steaks were a bit too charcoaly but still delicious. Staff was friendly and very apologetic for little errors made but all in all a good meal and would visit again

We were in the area visiting Stourhead, so thought we'd pop into this Beefeater on the way home. It wasn't particularly busy for a Sunday afternoon which was great as we were easily allocated a table. The waitress serving us was great, I didn't catch her name but the receipt said Grace S, so if this was correct, she was helpful, she sorted out one of my desserts to takeaway, which I really appreciated. The steak on my Mixed Grill came out pretty much rare, when I'd asked for it to be Medium. They chucked this back on the grill rather than cook a fresh one. My son's meal had the chicken wings missing from it, I only realised this after though. The chips on both meals were both undercooked. Overall an average visit, not great -but not bad.
