Nick, Karen and the team welcome you to The Bell Inn, a historic 16th Century Grade II Listed family run village pub within the conservation area of Buckland Dinham near Frome.
Our dog and family friendly pub boasts a host of period features including an inglenook fireplace in the bar, exposed stone walls and an attached converted barn which is perfect for private dining or small parties. With a rustic campsite to the rear, Buckfest our annual cider and music festival, weddings, private dining, bar, restaurant, boules court and attractive beer gardens, there is something for everyone here at The Bell Inn.
This 16th Century pub is rumoured to be haunted. Several ghost hunting organisations have reportedly obtained evidence to back up the claims. The current owners are convinced that there are spooky happenings within the pub walls, even though Karen insists she isn’t a believer! Are you brave enough to dine at table 13 in the restaurant?.
Great value light lunches and all days breakfasts. Very friendly and accommodating for our walking group. Recommended.
We visited The Bell recently because we were attending a sad event in the village. We couldn’t have been more welcomed. We had a delicious supper and an equally breakfast ( the large portion is large !) The staff are all lovely , truly went out of their way to look after us and we will visit next time we are in the village for sure.
Before we booked we checked there was a vegan Sunday roast, on arriving we checked there was a vegan roast (there is no written down menu on Sundays), on ordering we ordered a vegan roast, on the food arriving at the table the waitress announced them as vegan roasts. They were not vegan roasts. The Yorkshire puddings looked suspicious, so I called to the waitress and asked her to confirm that they were vegan. She went away to check and came back to say that no, they weren't vegan and took them away from us with an apology. My partner had already started eating his. We were having a family lunch for my mum's birthday, she's older and eats slowly. The waitress came back and started collecting the plates from around her whilst she was still eating. She asked me to pass my plate over my mum and I said I wouldn't as I would wait until everyone had finished eating. She then went away again, but my mum felt self conscious and left the rest of her meal. On paying, I told the person behind the bar about the mess up with the vegan/veggie meals and expressed concern about allergy sufferers and this just not being good enough. He apologised. Nothing can really make it any better when you've just eaten something you've spent decades avoiding for ethical reasons, or something you're allergic to. But honestly, a discount would have at least indicated that they cared about the mistake. The rest of the food was good, although I do wonder if the gravy/roast potatoes etc were vegan, and the staff were polite even if they don't understand how to deliver good customer service. Some of the seating is nice, but in the dining room area at the back the rows of tables are far too close together for people to be able to get in and out of their seats. There is plenty of free parking.
A British Breakfast Bash! I recently savored the Large British Tradition Breakfast at this pub, and it was a breakfast bash of epic proportions! 🇬🇧 The sausage was hearty, the bacon crispy, and the eggs sunny-side-up perfection. It was a true homage to British breakfast traditions. The service was as charming as a British accent, making the experience delightful from start to finish. In summary, if you're craving a British breakfast done right, this pub deserves a solid 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Friendly village pub with great food. A family friendly place to visit. It is advised to book Sunday lunch as the roast dinners are amazing! Stayed at the campsite, which is basic but all you need for a weekend away.
