I really enjoy the food and drink here as well as the service, the pub's right next to the river and the mump so plenty of different walks. nice atmosphere! we were seated next to the fireplace and after a long walk it was very nice. the staff are friendly and it's not as loud as you'd expect. the food is really good with high quality food with delicious pies, the menu its stagnant either with new specials each week. I would highly recommend this place if you're passing by!
Went here after a morning of hill climbing for a very relaxing lunch. Food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely will visit again in the future!
Treated ourselves to the most incredible plates of Belly pork, smoked mash, special beetroot garnish and the best crackling ever. A really fine rump steak and extra quality pub chips! All finished to a very high presentation and restaurant standard. Reasonable price for what was certainly a cut above a normal pub lunch. The staff and landlady were so warm and friendly to us and our little lurcher. We will be back soon! Much thanks from Linn and Matthew x
Went for a meal. Very good it was too. A lovely little pub. Proper pub. Great service, great people. Would recommend it. Just like a pub should be. Not all tarted up. We'll done
Wonderful experience today. We arrived a little later than planned and the waitress informed us that they had stopped serving food but she asked us if we'd like to stay for a drink. She then offered to ask the chef whether they would make an exception and they did which was very kind. The waiter that served us was accommodating and helpful too. We had delicious food and really enjoyed our visit. The chips were fantastic. Thank you so much staff at the King Alfred!
