The Smugglers Inn, part of the Hall & Woodhouse Family
Situated on the South West Coast Path, just outside the village of Osmington on the cliff tops overlooking the Isle of Portland, the Smugglers Inn is a perfect example of the traditional English country pub we all know and love. With a beautiful garden and its own stream outside and roaring log fires and oak beams inside, it’s cosy in the winter and glorious in the summer.
We had the most wonderful moment. Food, staff, location... Everything and everyone was perfect. The atmosphere is incredibly cosy and warm (the wood stove helps). The kind of moment one does not forget. Thanks to the staff and Tiffany, we loved every minute!
Great dinner and service was really excellent. Everyone served with a smile. We were there on Boxing Day and with most things closed, I asked if they knew of anywhere we could buy some milk to take home. A few moments later I was handed a litre of milk and was told, “on the house, it’s Christmas after all!” Very kind indeed.
We've been to the Smugglers Inn numerous times before and love it every time. We booked for our Christmas Dinner and it was exceptional. From the service, to the food, to the atmosphere, we couldn't fault a thing! We drove 1.5 hours for our visit and it was definitely worth it. There were so many little touches, like a Christmas card from the team and a gift of treats for our dog. I couldn't recommend more! The views to the sea surrounding the pub are incredible too.
Lovely pub, great surroundings. Food was great and staff very friendly. They even moved some tables around for us so we were more comfortable. Only slight downside was it took a while to get the bill, we had to ask a few times but got there in the end.
Enjoyed a lovely family Sunday Roast here last weekend. Fantastic location although access to the 'hidden' beach was closed off. Parking was a bit of a struggle but found a spot further up the road. It's clearly a very popular location. After a starter I ordered a beef roast -£17.95. The other option was chicken (which my wife had) or Nut roast. My eldest (8) had the children's beef. There was no price on the menu but I was a little surprised it was £13.95 on payment. Food was very nice. It's however the most expensive roasts I've ever bought but despite being good, not the best, hence the 4*.
