After a lovely walk around the Cliffe pools nature reserve we decided to have a late lunch here and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We receieved a very warm welcome from a lovely lady called Kayleigh and the food was amazing. We ordered from their winter menu and had their homemade Beef stew, steak and ale pie, and burgers and we couldn't recommend them highly enough. Very tasty, great portions, were very reasonably priced and we would absolutely return here again. The ales were great too of course. What a wonderful local English pub!
Absolutely delicious. Great quality food & portion sizes. Steak & kidney pudding was probably the best I've had, huge chunks of meat. Veggies & mash flavoured lovely. Hallumi & pepper squid were really lush, def recommend!!
Highly recommend this lovely village pub for food. Had a delicious Sunday roast there today and everything was spot on from the greet, to the service and the roast which was delicious. Service was efficient and very friendly and the food was served in good time - a very good portion & piping hot with lashings of gravy. Will definitely be returning - so pleased we gave the pub a try.
Great place to stay for anyone heading to Cooling Castle for a function. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb and the shuttle service they provide to Cooling Castle is a very nice touch and saves the hassle of booking and waiting for a cab. Would definitely recommend
We stayed here for 1 night to attend a wedding at Cooling Castle. The manager is fantastic and drove us to the wedding venue and collected us at a time we chose, which was brilliant. The room was huge and very clean. The only downside was that the mattress was very uncomfortable, and we hardly slept as you could feel the other person turning over in their sleep and every movement woke us. The breakfast was amazing, but sadly, the smell of all the cleaning products while trying to eat wasn't appreciated as I felt like at times I was eating bleach as smell was so strong. But these things didn't make much of a difference, just an observation and hopefully something for them to consider. The checkout is very early at 9.30 am, and breakfast is from 9 am on the Sunday.. not very convenient after a wedding, and not being able to go back to your room after breakfast is also a hassle but fully understandable as guests want earlier check-ins to attend weddings. but it's still a shame that breakfast is earlier to accommodate the earlier check out. Overall, I would stay again.
