About us

Before it joined the Taylor Walker family, the original Silver Cross Tavern was very small with approximately only 50 covers, now the Silver Cross can seat over 300 guests.

The Silver Cross is said to have had a resident ghost. Over the years there have been some strange occurrences in a certain area of the pub, people have heard strange noises here and have reported pictures falling off the wall. Team players have said to have felt a cold sensation in this part of the pub and some have reported they felt as though they were being watched here. One night when a former Deputy Manager was closing up, she locked the pub doors and went down to the office to cash up the tills. When she returned she thought she saw a lady walk around the corner into the haunted area. She presumed the lady must have been in toilet when she closed up and was trying to get out so she called out, but nobody answered. When she went around to the area, it was empty. The area the ghost is said to haunt was apparently once a brothel back in 1800's and was frequented by royalty. The ghost is said to be a young female prostitute who was murdered here.

Lovely service and a cosy low light environment, the food was good as well. Got sharing plates with my parents and it was enough to feed us all happily. The Beer Cheese and Pretzel was the show stopper for us.

Great lunch, they serve a considerable amount of food, and the price is pretty good for central London. The atmosphere was nice, low lights and not a lot of noise. Will definitely eat here again

Called here for a snack and pleasantly surprised at how big it actually is, like a tardis, outside doesn't do justice to the inside. Drinks and food are good quality, service excellent.

A busy pub that's just a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square, I had a great pint of Camden Hells. Great service and a good atmosphere, plenty of room and there is more seating downstairs. Great pub, will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

A busy pub at the north end of Whitehall, a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square. Another pub in the Greene King Stable, and a good one too! There is plenty of room being eagerly taken up by the London visitors, all enjoying themselves it appears. Great service and a jolly atmosphere. Plenty of choice both keg and cask, including TT Landlord. Downstairs for more seating. A great place.
