About us

Our inn is located in the National Trust village of Lacock, on the edge of the Cotswolds and only a short distance from Bath. Our Restaurant operates on an ethos of using the best local, seasonal produce and we encourage a relaxed, easy going atmosphere in the dining rooms, which provide the ideal place to settle in and warm up next to the open fires in the winter months.

In the summer months, we have a beautiful garden to enjoy a cream tea next to the stream, along with a paddock which will gradually be able to subsidise the produce for the kitchen.

Absolutely delicious food. We had the Sunday lunch. Definitely not the cheapest you’ll find but it is so worth the price. Amazing service also. We will definitely be returning

Unfortunately the only reason we booked this was to have a nice comfy hotel break. It wasn't any of those. Location and ascetic is the only thing going for this venue. Absolutely stunning village and beautiful building which I believe is rented from The National Trust however looks are not everything. The room was FREEZING despite asking for a extra heater the noisy little floor fan just dried out the air and took the worst chill off but considering this was a birthday / anniversary gift it wasn't much fun sleeping with our jumpers, socks n hats on. Mattress was very firm. Very. Shocked at size of room much smaller than photos suggested. No tv ? ! Headboard loose so rattled everytime we turned over....Breakfast was below average. Poached eggs slightly undercooked so snotty, mushrooms undercooked and cold. Tea stewed very fast so only got one cup before undrinkable. Over all a very disappointing night exacerbated by the absolute lack of interested shen I politely mentioned at check out we had a poor sleep and were freezing. In fact the little eye roll said it all so I was done. Be warned that looking pretty doesn't always mean anything. And at £130 I feel ripped off. Discounted off £185 BTW... avoid.

Historic pub with great food. The hake and the pork dishes were especially good. Friendly prompt service. Great atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Need to book. Afterwards take a walk through the unique historic village to St Cyriac's Church.

We spent two nights at Sign of the Angel and had dinner there on our first night as well. It was everything we had imagined it would be and more. The room was ideal and the food was delicious. I want to specifically thank Maddie, who greeted us initially at reception, immediately offered to help us with our bags, and made every effort to ensure we had a pleasant stay while we were in Lacock. She was absolutely lovely and really made our stay even that much better. I would highly recommend Sign of the Angel to anyone looking for a good stay or a good meal.

The Sign of the Angel is a wonderful restaurant / Hotel in Lacock. Service The service was amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and made our meal so enjoyable as they were always there to serve us when needed. Food The menu was very well put together and something for everybody. We all ordered something different, I have to say all the food that arrived, was beautifully presented, and hard to pick, as we all had food, envy! Drinks There was a wide range of drinks on the menu for anybody wishing to have an alcoholic drink or something that is non-alcoholic. We had a beautiful bottle of rosé wine that was from a local vineyard, it was lovely to see local businesses working together! Decor The decor of the restaurant and lounges is homely and inviting, suitable for a quick, get together, business meeting, birthday parties, or something a bit more formal. Prices Prices are very reasonable, especially when you take in consideration, the location and the service that we were lucky enough to receive. Lacock This small quaint village is the most beautiful destination to visit, it is somewhere that everybody should go to to see how beautiful are English country villages are, it is also very well located as it is so close to the city of Bath. I would highly recommend The Sign Of The Angel to anyone looking for a great meal with a venue and experience that you will not be disappointed with, I think next time we’ll end up staying in the hotel that is part of the restaurant - and making an even longer trip out of it as we didn’t want to leave.
