Situated on the historic Wyle Cop, the main features of this Grade II Listed timber framed building are best appreciated externally. There's the upper storey jettying, and to the rear, the timber remnants of a 14th-century hall house including a screened
This provided protection from draughts and nowadays, shelter for smokers!. And for a town centre pub, the garden is remarkably large. The old style interior has remained unaltered for many years. The pub can be very busy at times attracting a mixed clientele. But beware, it has the reputation of being haunted and is featured in the Shrewsbury Ghost Trail!.

Just funny as! Apparently it's haunted but I didn't see owt. Good beer and ace mix of drinkers
Really good old ale house on a hill in central Shrewsbury. A choice of a few ales, one I was on was lovely. Large outside area which has a very old structure overlooking it. I didn’t enquire what it was all about but I was impressed nevertheless. Supposedly haunted as it has cursed painting hidden away in the top floor with a sinister history. A quick online search will reveal said painting. Recommended pub! 🍻 👻
A good traditional pub, with 3 ales on the bar, with a large beer garden which is well used in the summer.
We like coming in here as it's got a nice oldy worldly feel to it and a big window that looks out into Wyle cop. Good to do some people-watching. Plus it sells non-alcoholic Guinness 😋 and sadly not many pubs in Shrewsbury do! It's got a good beer garden but we came at night so didn't go outside. Nice friendly staff 👌 too.
Absolutely loved it here. Lovely people both sides of the bar, oozing with history and character. To try and modernise it would be a complete travesty, take it as you find it, immerse yourself, and just enjoy it for what it is. 11/10 One of my favourite pubs in Britain. Well done everyone 👏
