About us

The Plough Inn is predominantly a traditional real ale free house situated in the heart of Shifnal. There is a great choice of drinks and food. Live music events are held for carnival and New Year, plus a great Irish Music night on the first Monday of every month. At the rear of the pub there is an amazing outside covered seated area, huge beer garden and function room.

The Plough Inn doubles as a restaurant and traditional cask ale freehouse offering a wide selection of real ales , with 8 traditional hand pulls on the bar, 2 real cask ciders,

plus a selection of continental lagers and premium ciders.

Ales on are displayed on the 'hymn' board along with their price and ABV. Ales in stock coming on are displayed on the 'beerboard'. We hold up to 40 in stock as the turn over is rapid and we want to ensure we keep the 8 on at all times for your choice.

The Plough Inn features in CAMRA'S Good Beer Guide 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Food is available daily with a great choice of home cooked meals to suit all tastes.

In addition to this The Plough also has a large dining room which can

be booked for private functions and business meetings etc.

There is also a fabulous large out door covered area as well as a large beer

garden with patio and terrace to enjoy in the warmer weather.

We stayed locally and walked here. What a great find! Very welcoming despite being "outsiders". Great choice of beers at good prices. We ate here Friday night and had the home made pie. Unbelievable! Huge portion of absolutely gorgeous food. We even cancelled our Saturday night booking at our hotel and returned here for more pie. It was a different pie and even more gorgeous than the previous evening. To put it into perspective, two huge portions of home made steak and red wine pie, chunky chips and peas, came to the same cost as one steak in our hotel. No brainer! Eat here, it's the best pub food you'll ever experience at a price you won't believe.

Visited here for the first time. Lovely lunch, good seating area and good service. Much bigger than it looks from the roadside!! Will visit again!!

Just popped in as not local and was pleasantly surprised. They were dog friendly, ie: on a lead, perfect for us. Very warm and friendly welcome. Very assertive. Great big beer garden, looks very deceptive from the front. The space outside was akin to that of a Tardis. Lovely lawn, ample seating with tables. The food was served very quick. Piping hot, and immensely delicious. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Well recommended.

Had a reserved table for Sunday Lunch. I opted for the roast beef with a cauliflower cheese side. Everything was cooked perfectly except the potatoes which were a little undercooked. Others in the party had scampi or burgers and enjoyed them. Service was good and the pub had a nice friendly atmosphere.
