About us

Our bar and restaurant will be open for morning coffee with the papers, for after-work drinks with friends, and for dining with family.

The open theatre-style kitchen will be crafting a Mediterranean inspired menu which is filled with warming brunch dishes, authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, traditional home comforts, delicious Sunday roasts and a whole lot more. A fabulous drinks menu is there to be enjoyed, with classic cocktails, an extensive wine range as well as local ales and chilled draught lagers.

we absolutely loved our visit to the george - the friendly staff helped us with directions, made us laugh and made sure my pup had some water after a long walk through the castle. the sunday dinner was immaculate, we also ordered a side of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese - both were some of the best I've had - really tasty! thank you for having us!

Don’t no where to start! The food at this establishment insults restaurateurs and Ludlow for extremely poor quality food, no quality control and poor customer service. The main issue was the pizzas delivered to us ( see pics) a highly burnt calzone pizza? Why was the pizza delivered to me when it was completely destroyed, hence no care or quality control is in place? I sent the pizza back and a new one was offered but I refused as we decided to share the bolognaise pizza, however it was sloppy and could only be eaten with a knife and fork but then we realised it was burnt underneath ( see pic)? We also sent the 2nd pizza back and refused a replacement because the food was made via unqualified and inexperienced staff who didn’t care about the food they cooked ‘burnt’! I saw the manager talking to our waitress regarding the issues, they were approx 20FT from me, she spoke to the staff and I heard her say “watch the temp of the oven “, she completely ignored us and no apology given. We ordered coffees which came with no sugars, small issue but a catalogue of issues. The kitchen is open whereby you can see the food getting prepared and served , I really didn’t like watching one of the chefs drinking straight from a milk carton, I hope that was his own milk and not utilised in preparing food, either way really unprofessional. I could complain further about the starters , but I’ve had enough of tonight’s disappointing food and having to write so much warning people about this being the worest restaurant I’ve ever encountered. The ironic part of the visit when the bill arrived although the 2 pizzas were not charged they still charged 10% service charge 😂😂😂, we asked the service charge to be removed. Great looking restaurant, it’s a shame they haven’t invested into quality staff and standards.

Reserved table for 4 for Christmas Eve and paid required deposit of £40. We had chosen our dishes from the Festive Menu displayed in the bar (2 courses for £30). On arrival we were shown to our table in the restaurant, but told the Festive Menu was unavailable. Most items from the Festive Menu were on the ordinary menu, tho some were at slightly higher prices. Apparently insufficient numbers of the Festive Menu dishes had been reserved for this evening. This was annoying and disappointing. How can you advertise a Festive Menu which isn't available on Christmas Eve! The alternative meals we did order were good, pizza was super, tho there was a long wait for desserts to be prepared and the apple and mincemeat strudel was disappointing, too sweet and overpriced. The kitchen seemed to be struggling to cope tho the restaurant was only half full. The bill automatically included a 10% service charge but the deposit was not automatically deducted and we had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. Overall it was alright but not quite the experience we had anticipated.

A little disappointing & overpriced tbh, we went for Sunday lunch, you have to order your food at the bar, that’s not a problem but when checking receipt I noticed I had been charged a service charge of 10%, I’m by no means tight but shouldn’t it be up to me if I Want to tip based on the service I receive rather than it being on your bill at the start? The halloumi fries were fantastic, so tasty & full of flavour The roast was average, the beef was so fatty and tough we had to ask for steak knives to cut through it

After seeing the renovations and hearing about the plans for The George, I could not wait to try it, and so I did for the first time tonight! I have to say it thoroughly exceeded my every expectation. The food was the perfect blend of classy and soulful at very reasonable prices too! The staff were incredibly hospitable and welcoming and are a credit to the brand! I shall definitely be returning very soon! A special thank you especially to both Izzie and Laura for looking after me tonight and making my evening so wonderful!
