A great pub close to the train station well priced considering it has weatherspoons as a neighbour, standard range of beers and spirits a pool table and dart board as well as some good music being played an enjoyable visit
Hi I must say my first time in the shipwrights the Gentleman standing smoking directly at the entrance my first thought didn't sit comfortably. Immediately I recognized his thoughts, now recognizeding three years later I'm correct he didn't take to me, that's fine not every one likes the way you are. I'm 58years old insulin dependent I'm very careful what I consume, I'm a John Smith's drinker 6 to 8 pints 5 days a week I'm really fond of the clientele the bar really efficient and friendly. Please can Robert give me a reasonable explanation for banishing me from the premises. I've drank in Whitehaven since 1983, also I'm a member of Whitehaven rugby league supporters club over 30 years and never been barred from any public premises
Lovely local pub. Went to practice some darts. Good beer and great staff.
Good to see a proper pub still standing dispite being next to a massive Wetherspoons. Feels like a true freehold even though owned by managed pub company, I visit Whitehaven multiple times a year and alway stop for couple pints. Pool table and dart board always good sign, staff and regulars see welcoming enough *****
Apart from the lovely friendly staff and customers, outdoor seating / smoking area with heaters, picnic tables, plants, TV (for the matches), retractable awning, etc up some stairs out the back, the spotlessly clean toilets, entertainment in the form of sporting events on TV and the occasional band, apart from all that, this Pub actually has regular Coca-Cola in glass bottles, the way they should be, and my favourite bar snacks, Scampi Fries and Bacon Fries. They do not do food (a good thing in my opinion). Oh, and Guinness has been a great price in there recently. A lovely pub, and despite the fact I'm not interested in sports I still go in there when it's on - and I've never seen any arguments in there, ever. Oh, and it's not always busy, especially the outdoor area on the cooler days and nights, it just often is, because it's popular.
