Really nice pub, staff are all friendly and helpful. Have had the roast dinner there several times and it really is delicious. Good selection of meats, get plenty of gravy and the roast potatoes are out of this world!
Had a lovely dinner lunch here today meeting up with good friends. Great atmosphere, polite and helpful staff, and great tasting food. Highly recommend.
Very pleasant. Went at midday on a Saturday so it was quite quiet as they had just opened. I ordered the mixed grill, it was pretty decent. Not a massive fan of the chicken wings but the steak, gammon and sausage were good. £2.50 for a tiny pot of peppercorn sauce was a bit excessive, but overall the meal was good value. Nice large beer garden and plenty of seating indoors. Seems like it would be a good place for a Friday or Saturday night drink.
Your "typical" pub, can't complain about anything specific but at the same time, nothing stands out to give it more than 3 stars.... We visited based on a recommendation from a friend because our local was too "dangerous" :/ Anyway, we went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Pub was pretty dead but steady flow of customers, drinks were priced.... Okay? An ale and large wine, just over a tenner. We ordered food. Now, they had "masala" chips on the menu and we jumped at them for a starter, they're not proper masala chips, but they were tasty. We were just disappointed with what we had in mind and what came to the table. Mains, I ordered a steak, medium to rare and please more on the rare side because they never get it right. What came? A steak burnt to a crisp, which I had to send back. They claim the order was messed up with another table but the bar associate made a joke about the chef knew I was gonna complain. If you can't tell the difference between the pictures.... Ha. Fair enough. There's also onion rings missing from the first crispy dry steak. When I got the right order, it was okay. Nothing special really. Chips were few and dry, slightly over cooked. Dessert was the course that saved it all! It was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended! The pub itself, we spent our time in the beer garden, which is very spacious. Inside, clearly a sports focused pub with TVs everywhere. Parking available but not a lot, just a decent amount. Not much else to say.
Absolutely love the Ship, the staff in there are always so kind and patient. My mum and I often meet for a little lunch, and they're so accommodating. We've eaten quite a few things from the menu, from their burgers to their roasts, soups, loaded fries.... everything has always been fresh and delicious. Great pub, look forward each visit!
