Going to do an honest review as I really do like this place, the staff are very attentive and friendly so no complaints there, a particular lady that served me at the bar was wonderful, my husband said she poured his pint of Guinness to perfection! We had booked a table for 1:30 but arrived earlier however this wasn’t a problem and we were seated immediately, no one brought menus over nor were there any on the table so we had to go get them at the bar which is absolutely fine I understand a lot of pubs do this differently depending on their type of table service. Most of us had the carvery which had a lot of nice options and was a great size for the price. The beef was a little dry, possibly due to having already been carved and sat on the hot plate, instead of being carved just before serving, the gammon however was cooked to perfection, very moist and full of flavour. The stuffing was quite dry also, really lovely flavour just a bit too solid for my tastes. All the veg on offer was fantastic especially the cauliflower cheese 👌🏻 only really the leeks I found a bit watery. Overall its in a great location with a fantastic beer garden, would definitely come here to eat again, perhaps off of the main menu as the choice was quite good!

We came for a cheeky meal this evening and I have to say. The 1 star reviews are obviously on something because The Ship is amazing. The atmosphere is traditional English pub vibe with old wooden beams and friendly staff. The food, oh gosh the food is stellar. Would definitely recommend you come for their main menu meals, the steak and the mix grill are to die for! It's also VERY dog friendly ❤️
Nice pub with plenty of character...in a prime position.. we chose to have lunch here after a long walk on the beach with our two dogs.. it was quite on arrival just a few people having a drink who sounded local... I ordered the drinks...the 3 of us took a seat!..plenty to chose from and settled down with the dogs...My partner went up and did the food order, 2 hunters chicken and a cheese&pickle sandwich for herself...The food came within 5 minutes! I thought wow! that's quick... and to be honest I wish it hadn't come..... The food cost £39 this is for lunch..it well below standard..the only thing hot on the plate was the frozen fries...chicken was dry and not even luke warm...If I would of been on my own.. I would of taken it back and asked for a refund....my partner asked me not to complain as its not in her nature to do this ...because of our long walk we were all hungry so we ate what we could ..the dogs finished of most of it....such a shame.... as its a very nice character pub in such a good position...but the food that was served to us was very poor... would I return????? Maybe for drinks but I'll never eat there again unless there's a radical change in the kitchens.....
Amazing food! Dog friendly, reasonable price! Provide free water and bowls for doggies and some sausages etc. Dog treats available at bar to treat your pooch and a good selection of outdoor seating with or without shelter. Would definitely recommend.
