About us

The ‘Old Lady of Fowey’ Welcomes You

Built by adventurer John Rashleigh in 1570, The Ship Inn is Fowey’s oldest pub. For more than four centuries the inn has been the focal point of our beautiful Cornish port – a haven for travellers, merchants, fishermen between hauls, and locals looking for a chat around the huge open fire.

It’s a tradition that has been embraced under our new management. Still the same friendly pub reviving customers from all walks of life, but now feeding and keeping you even better. The menu makes full use of the fish and seafood coming in to port every morning and the superb produce from nearby farms. The drinks include a healthy dose of Cornish ales, a proper wine list and real coffee for the morning after.

Loved your pub, very inviting, love how old it is and all the nooks and crannies, and all the nick naks on the shelves and hangings on the walls. We had the roast on Sunday evening it was delicious and although late to start the quiz we were invited to join in. It was great. We then had lunch the next day and popped in again quickly the same evening for a beverage. Well worth a visit 😊

The four of us visited several times on our visit to Fowey and loved it every time! Food was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. It was like a home away from home. Highly Recommend!!

A Sunday trip out to Fowey, only living 45 minutes away we have only visited once before. Walking around we saw that the pub was the oldest in town so went in for a drink. We were lucky enough to get a table by the lovely open fire. As we were now comfortable in our surroundings decided to have a Sunday roast which I can honestly say was perfect with plenty of veg and everything on the plate was very tasty 😋 The price was also very good. We will definitely go back for another visit. Looking forward to it already.

Didn't stay, so no room rating, but the Ship is always a great pub to stop by. Christmas Eve, two small (hungry) children and an excited puppy in tow, and they catered to us brilliantly. It's just a cozy local pub, good beer and filling food. Go visit.

I don't know how I have missed this place every time I have visited Fowey, it's fantastic. Proper pub with loads of atmosphere, lovely roaring fire, we popped in for coffee but ended up staying for lunch as it was so nice and the menu looked great. We were not disappointed, the food was great and really good value. Plenty of gluten free options.
