Stopped here for food and drinks, service very slow, person serving behind the bar kept coughing and not washing his hands once, absolutely disgusting, waited an age to be served as well, when the food come out not 5 minutes after I paid my sandwich bread was hard and dry, they never brought my chips despite asking twice for them, people sitting too close so couldn’t have much of a conversation. Do not recommend eating here. Only thing I liked was it’s dog friendly and my dog loved being there. Please ask staff to brush up on their hand hygiene and to be more hospitable.

After walking up to the castle and back we found this lovely pub. Roaring fire and charming inside, a proper pub serving great local beer. The fresh crab sandwiches to die for were deliciously tasty, served with homemade coleslaw, crisps and salad. Friendly staff made our lunchtime experience complete.

Lovely place for a quiet retreat which we've been coming to for several years. The Ship offers good food and Paul the manager and his team work incredibly hard to make the service and your stay as pleasant as possible. Rather over priced rooms but not unexpected due to the lack of accommodation on the island. My only criticism is that my poached eggs for breakfast were so under done as to be inedible but this is just my personal taste.

We had a lovely family meal here prior to heading back to the mainland as the tide turned. We booked at short notice by email the day before. The restaurant was fully booked but Paul the manager offered us a table for ten in the bar and kept us amused with his tales of celebrity visitors. The food was good quality typical pub fare. The fish and chips and haddock in lemon and butter were particularly good and greatly appreciated. Booking is essential and is ideally required days or weeks in advance. Two parties turned up on spec and were turned away while we were there and there are few alternatives available in the village, even out of season and at high tide times.

Had a lovely fish lunch and scampi here. It's a little on the pricey side for the north east, but not unexpectedly as it's literally a "captive audience" when the tide comes in! We really enjoyed sitting in the beer garden for a quiet drink before heading out walking. The landlord pre-warned us that they were fully booked for evening meals, as we're the only other two restaurants on the island - with the causeway not reopening until after 7pm we made sure to have a big lunch. Highly recommend booking evening meals in advance!
