Lovely family friendly pub with great entertainment as you relax.
The subject of a proposed refurbishment, the Ship and Pelican is located on the main road into the city of Exeter. With a population of around 125,000, this prime corner plot high street location presents a fantastic opportunity to generate income through both passing trade and local residents. The demographic of this area is largely mixed, with both students and suburban families living in the surrounding area.
The Ship and Pelican is currently successfully trading as a 100% wet-led community pub and has a strong community following through several sports teams and a great drinks offer. The refurbishment planned on this pub will focus on introducing an excellent food offer to compliment the strong community following. Therefore, the planned refurbishment will include a revamp and upgrading of the catering kitchen to accommodate for the 40+ covers in the pub.
Good for football with a decent alem
I've been there a couple times, staff are friendly. I've often come in mid week work lunch times. Pub is sticky in places and the regulars like to get behind the bar and help. When they are drunk and don't look very clean it is a little off putting.
The food is based on Ads pizza which sell out the back in the car park and they are great. Pizzas are available to all but they hand deliver to pub patrons. Ads only sell on Thursday and Friday. The pub itself is a typical pub for locals, has live sports, plenty of seating, pool table, darts and a beer garden. Good selection of draft beers and ciders. The draw back can be the wait. They seem to struggle with staff numbers.
I had the best time here, friendly staff making you feel like home and an amazing, memorable karaoke night. This is the pub to go if you want to leave with a smile and the idea to come back as soon as you can!
Was actually very surprised, I'd never noticed this place, it beautiful inside, loved the decor and how natural features of the building were kept. Clean, welcoming, really nice bar staff, lovely garden and surprisingly nice escape from the downpour of rain that day, game of pool and a gorgeous peach gin. Pizza night looked amazing too, something we'll definitely be back for. Thank you
