What a joke this place has become, whoever thought that letting an alcoholic (try) and run this place when they couldn’t run a bath is beyond me. As soon as these pair of clowns are booted out of the door by Marstons the better! I feel really sorry for the people who booked their Christmas dinner only to have it cancelled on them at the last minute after having a great one last year. Get rid of them-kick them out before they completely ruin it.
Had an evening meal here a month ago and really enjoyed it. Returned two days ago and ordered fish and chips and a sirloin steak. The fish'n'chips were fine but my steak was tough and chewy. I returned it and it came back to me 5 minutes later with the comment that "the chef can cut it, so it's alright." The pieces she cut, obviously with a very sharp knife, were still tough and chewy. I ended up eating a few chips and then we left. Two things strike me here, firstly, that I the customer was at fault for commenting on the quality of the meat and secondly that I was not immediately offered an apology and an alternative meal. The steak was difficult to cut with the supplied steak knife and inedible altogether. I came away from the Shiny Sheff feeling insulted by the attitude of the kitchen staff.
Been in for food numerous times, and nearly every occasion have had to wait 45-60 minutes for what is essentially a plated microwave ready meal. Prices are what you'd expect, but the portion sizes seem to decrease with every visit. Staff are friendly, that's about all that's good. Not terrible, but we definitely won't be returning.
We came here for Sunday lunch at the begining of the year and now we come all the time. The Sunday roasts are great, but the other options on the menu are equally as tasty, The Southern Chicken being one of our favourites and the deserts go down a treat! Not to mention the Mega Sundaes! Nice selection of drinks on offer and TVs situated to watch the sport on. Great friendly pub.
