Enjoyed lunch here with the family after a long dog walk today. Really friendly and professional service combined with great food and cosy surroundings. What a great pub, thanks for looking after us. We will be back
Food was ok. Didn't feel that the lady in charge should be telling us they had a large party booked but didn't want to pay extra staff. It took us a long time to pay as they were so busy. Very frustrating. 😔
Just a really, really good pub. It's excellent without seeming to try too hard (which takes a lot of work in the background). The food is good without feeling you're in a restaurant and not a pub. The staff are super friendly and helpful. It's dog friendly. The decor is eclectic without having the impression that someone's just bought a job lot from 'Quirky Rural Pub Inc'. You just want a quick drink ? You won't feel like you're getting on the way of people eating. Want some food? You can sit back and enjoy it without worrying about spilling crumbs on the table cloth. Getting that balance between food and wet trade is so hard. The Shepherds Hut does it. Excellently.
Lovely lunch at Shepherd’s Hut. I bought a voucher from Jack FM back in May and luckily we picked the perfect day to have lunch. The garden is a sun trap. Lunch was fabulous, good old fish and chips and scampi and chips. The fish had crispy batter and the fish perfectly cooked, the scampi was too. Dessert was chocolate fudge cake and the crème brûlée, both were scrummy. This pub was our local a few years back whilst being based at Benson, it was fab then and still is today. Well done Fluxy & team.
Popped in for a drink but not food. The Sunday lunch food on other tables looked good and appetising. Heineken 0% was £4.20 so on the steeper side. Roast lunch prices: chicken or beef: £17.95. Duo: £19:95. Small: £12. Has a bottomless brunch on Saturday. Tapas style food. Nice outdoor potential but untidy and rubbish not cleared away at top garden. Shame. Oodles of potential and friendly staff. May need a fresh pair of eyes to see what can be improved. Will revisit.
