🇬🇧🍻🥘 Located off beat between Bracknell and Windsor this well lit, lovely country pub restaurant has good parking. There's a warm welcome, long bar clearly serving all the brands we love and great food with a well engineered menu. Check out our supper photos! Service with a smile from Julie, our waitress who was friendly, efficient, and checked on us during service. There were plenty of guests when we dined so I recommend a booking. Fair prices and this restaurant also accept Tesco vouchers, which is a bonus! Highly recommended great British pub, very clean and presentable interior, suitable fir any occasion. Thanks, guys! I've now dined here three times in the past year and would definitely return again. The menu choices and the quality of the food are good. The servers are friendly and efficient. All the staff make you feel welcome. The pub has a cosy and relaxed atmosphere and is a perfect place for casual dining and drinking. There is outside seating for warmer days and it is dog friendly. I have had several bad experiences at Greene King owned pubs in recent years and vowed not to visit any again. My niece suggested we meet at Shepherd's House last year and my faith has been restored by the team there who offer decent food at a reasonable price served by friendly people.
Have had three Christmas dinners here which were work related over the last 8 or so years and the food is always a bit eh. Most recent Christmas dinner very much so. Vegetables not nice at all - brussell sprouts were not done. Potatoes were even worse. I couldn't even cut them with a knife. Yorkshire pudding didn't even look like Yorkshire pudding. Turkey, pigs in blanket and everything else on plate were nice though. For starter - lovely pate but needed more bread with it. Two bits of bread for the butter and pate you get is not enough. Great chocolate ice cream with cookie at the end. When I went to the women's toilet I found two stalls out of order and coming out a guy randomly went in to clean/dry his hands. I'm not sure what that was about. I was fine with it but i'm sure other women would not be happy with a man in a female toilet area.
Went for Sunday lunch. Food was good quality and comes out hot. Service was efficient and quick. Only disappointing thing was when waitress looked at her watch when we went to order dessert and said "not sure if you have time as this table booked in 15min". She did "let us" order but then came and gave us the bill while still eating dessert. I know it's popular and very busy but they need to be upfront if you only have so much time at your table....
I've been to quite a few other Chef and Brewer pubs around the area, but none are as good as this one. The service was fast, with really friendly waiters and waitress. The pub was very well decorated having a warm welcoming feel about it. There's a large menu with something for everyone including lots of vegan options. Food was well cooked and very tasty.
