We ate here both last night for dinner & this morning for breakfast. Last night we were looked after really well by the lovely Georgia ( I think she fell in love with our dog! Being a dog friendly place was such a bonus!) and her colleague behind the bar (sorry didn’t get her name but she works Mon & Friday). Super friendly service & food & drink really good. Carvery roast dinner was hot, tasty & plentiful & I’m told the lasagne ordered by my wife was first-class! She is of Italian heritage so high praise indeed! We arrived at 10.45am for breakfast this morning and again plenty of choice, hot and eggs cooked fresh on demand. Staff again super helpful & friendly, Really cannot fault the Sheldon Arms at all. I wish all the pub restaurants I’ve visited were like this! Well done to all. 10/10.

First of all the staff were really really lovely, the service was excellent. I opted for the carvery and it was a mega portion of meat with pigs in blankets and a giant Yorkshire pudding. The beef and turkey were a little dry but the gammon was juicy and delicious. The veg selection was good and the gravy was just how I like it, you could stand a spoon up in it.

I can hand on heart say that this was the best carvery that I have ever had! Proper roast potatoes and the cauliflower cheese was yum. All meats cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere, clean, staff friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Called ahead to book a table for three with an hour's notice and we were accommodated. Service was exemplary, staff welcoming and attentive, special mention for Annetta. Whenever we stay in Manchester we always make a special trip out of the city to visit The Sheldon Arms.

Gave this a try due to stopping in the travelodge next door and it was very disappointing. We all ordered a mixed grill at approximately 18.15, and an hour later, we were still waiting! We went and asked about our food and was told it should only be about 10 minutes and it was about another 30 minutes. I made a joke about free desserts for the wait, which was granted. Unfortunately, after the very long wait, the mixed grill was very poor! The meat was very tough especially the chicken and the steaks were all well done when asked for medium rare and all of them were missing the onion rings which we only mentioned after as we had waited long enough. The response was that the chef had not put them in and didn't want to delay us anymore? Then, when sat waiting for our desserts, we spoke to a guy who was just in for a pint who has been working around here for 18 months on and off. He said, "This place has only just been reopened 2 weeks after getting refurbished, and it is still rubbish." When the desserts arrived, one of them looked like someone had taken a bite out of the base and all the spoon handles were covered in the sauce obviously another rushed job. The only positive is that the lasses on the bar were really friendly and chatty, which gives it 2 stars. Otherwise, it was 1 or 0 if it was an option.
