About us

The Scottish Stores was designed by the architects Wylson and Long in 1901. Originally an Inn, it got named by virtue of the haunches of Venison hung in the bar awaiting their sale by visiting Scots traders.

Into the 1980’s pub was re-named as "The Flying Scotsman" and became well known as one of the last remaining strippers pubs in London!

With a very large nod to the past and following a loving refurbishment of the fantastic Grade 2 listed interiors, the pub was restored to its original name and The Scottish Stores re-opened in December 2015 with three small, wood-panelled bars and an Arts & Crafts feel to the décor.

Its main focus is as an Ale and Craft Beer House, catering to local residents and businesses, also station travellers and tourists alike with an ever-rotating beer range sourced from Kent to Iceland!.

Great little boozer tucked away near to King's Cross. Lots of nooks and crannies, so good for a quiet beer and a chat. Usually 3 or 4 unusual cask ales on. The Portobello Red Ale was on great form today - £4.70 a pint with a 10% CAMRA discount. Great service and very handy for the station.

Stumbled across the cutest little pub on our way back to our hotel from Kings Cross station. A really lovely ambiance that feels historic, the staff are so friendly and attentive and even told the history of the place. If you visit do ask , it’s fascinating 🥰🍻and we got the best seat in the house!

Came here in October and the atmosphere was friendly and spooky! There were bat's, cobwebs, candy, the works! Came in November, and there's hidden elves! See how many you can find! Friendly staff, fairly cheap pints, before 5 it's not blaring it's music, so you can actually hear. After 5 it plays fairly good music (Crazy Little Thing Called Love). There's often tables and it's well on it's way to becoming my new favourite! Go experience the fun!

The Scottish Stores was an unplanned surprise, a cozy refuge I found due to another local pub being closed. Upon entering, I was greeted by a series of intimate side rooms, each offering its own cozy setting, making it a pleasantly inviting space. The beer here is of good quality and the prices are reasonable, which is always a welcome find in central London. It embodies all the qualities of a winning after-work pub, providing a comfortable space to unwind in the midst of the city bustle. In essence, The Scottish Stores is a warm, welcoming spot that offers good drinks at good prices—making it a delightful discovery for anyone looking to relax in a cozy atmosphere. --- "Enjoyed this review? Pretty place, good drinks, nice staff. More snacks would do, but pizza is available and good.
