My partner and I were invited by friends to try the Inkwell with them. I had read a few bad reviews about the quality of the food, but we decided to go ahead and try for ourselves. I'm glad we did as I was more than pleasantly surprised. We started with cheesy nachos which came out hot and tasty. My friend and I both chose the mixed grill, and our partners chose the kebab skewers. The mixed grill was cooked perfectly. The steak was rare, as requested, and wasn't full of fat and gristle like some had commented in their reviews. The rest of the meal was really tasty, and I fully cleared my plate. My partner and I opted for the chocolate brownie for desert. It looked great and tasted amazing, the only issue was it was too small for sharing. Service was great, the whole team was pleasant. We enjoyed a great meal and will definitely drop in again soon.
Booking was easy. Greeting warm. Order taken quickly. Food was excellent but took an age to arrive. No apologies. No asking if everything was OK. No offer to get more drinks for us. We would have ordered more drinks and desserts but were too concerned about how long it would take. We only had the table until 7pm. Staff were friendly. The pub was not overly busy. There seemed to be plenty of staff. So I can only put this experience down to poor management. Causing unmotivated staff. There are plenty of great places to eat in Lichfield with great customer service. It'll be a while before we try the Inkwell again.
I have recently moved into the area and was introduced to this lovely establishment and including yesterday was my 3rd visit and won't be my last. I have recommended this great place to all my friends and family and in the New Year, we are all meeting up there. The foods excellent and a good choice. Prices are excellent including the wine. It's a very nice feel when you enter and is beautifully decorated, especially the Xmas decorations. Staff all look lovely and are very pleasant. Very lovely experience. Thank you all..
Busy pub chain... food was fabulous but atmosphere let it down, felt more like a canteen... staff rushed off their feet, it was Christmas time though, but one kept banging into my friends chair... OK for a regular night out but wouldn't recommend for anything a little more special. Parking available but usually rammed!
