Formerly known as The Church House, our establishment is a quaint, olde-worlde pub with a lovely beamed bar area and separate rooms dating back to 1777. Traditional wood burners add the finishing touch on a cold winter’s day. We have four hand pumps, with Black Sheep bitter always on tap and a variety of guest beers on the others. Bar Billiards is played in the Tap Room which stands on the consecrated land of the Parish Church and we have a large colourful mural depicting the history of Thornhill in the Lounge.
A steep staircase leads to a wonderful “secret garden” with picnic tables for barbeques that we hold regularly in summer; children are welcome in the garden area. Fantastic food is available by prior request for parties, funerals and small groups for private dining. Regular food nights are on Wednesdays and Fridays with our current menu on display here.
One of my favourite pubs! Always a good selection of beers and a brilliant vibe. Thanks to the staff for always making it a fab experience.
Decent selection of ale/beer, great staff
Got the pork sandwich and it was beautiful. Big portion too! Great atmosphere. Will deffo be back
Nice little pub, was there last night 6th Jan. Some good real ales on, was a good pint. Nice atmosphere. Barmaid did a fantastic job, got busy a couple of times and beer was taking a little time to settle. She took it all in her stride and looked effortlessly done, having several beers and customers on the go at once. Top marks to her.
Newly refurbished and under new management. The place is bright and welcoming with a great selection of drinks (including Brooklyn Lager on tap). The locals were friendly and the landlord was extremely welcoming. Even got a slice of lovely pork pie! A great local pub and one that we'll be visiting more frequently.
