A historic Wedding venue, hotel and restaurant located in the Minster town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
The Saracens Head is a historic hotel in a wonderful location that offers a wide range of facilities. These include an elegant oak panelled restaurant that dates back to the 17th Century, a cosy bar with a log fire, a lounge which can be used for a quiet afternoon tea, and several function rooms that can be hired for weddings, parties, conferences, sit-down meals and buffets.
The hotel offers Wedding facilities for up to 120, with 27 ensuite bedrooms, including several four poster and historic interest rooms, one of which most famously accommodated King Charles I the night before he surrendered to the Scottish Commissioners during the Civil War. The restaurant offers a seasonal bistro style menu with a traditional flare.
For a slice of history try walking in the footsteps of our famous patrons that include a number of monarchs, poet Lord Byron and writers Charles Dickens & D.H. Lawrence. Or perhaps for those more intrepid explorers why not try to spot one of our resident ghosts.

Went here for lunch after touring the nearby Minster. Plenty of parking behind the Hotel but you need to give them your license plate number at the restaurant to avoid a ticket. Lots of history to read about. The building is old and was very cold in the dining room on the day we ate. Food was great and the server was very good. He even explained how to pronounce the name of the town!
We had the pleasure of staying at this charming hotel in Southwell, and it exceeded our expectations for a one-night getaway. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable check-in process. We felt well-looked after from the first to the last minute. Thank you!
We spent part of new year's eve in here. The bar area we were allowed in was quiet but this suited us as we were with family members that live quite a way away, so we could talk. The rest of the hotel looked extremely busy with people staying overnight and the comedy club in another area. All our party enjoyed themselves and we all said we'd do it again.
Came here after being let down by another establishment. Party of 6 prompt service, friendly helpful staff. Definitely return and recommend. Food excellent and well kept real ale
Visited just for food and drinks. We ordered lunch and were served by a very helpful member of staff. We ordered Ale Fresco and sandwiches. The salmon sandwich was out of stock so chose another. Sandwiches were tasty, served with chips and salad. The building is very historic and interesting to visit.
