Victorian hostelry with a cast-iron balcony and an outdoor seating area to watch the horse racing.
Not loud, relaxing, bit of an oasis, in a great location... safe and calm.... nice interior / ambience....and a lovely place to have a great chat with a wonderful friend over a very nice beverage. The food looked amazing. And views of the race course and downs. I was visiting from the States, but I will be back.
Staff were great and really friendly which made our trip. I enjoyed the roast with everything other than the beef (which was oberdone) being great
Went for lunch and were delighted with the food and service. The liver and sea bass were excellent. The vegan food was very good, with a good selection of mains (although a bit more choice of vegan starters would have been nice). They went out of their way to make vegan espresso Martinis, which was most appreciated! A very enjoyable afternoon.
Day started off well, but didn’t end well! Didn’t book so was told the wait for a table would be 30mins not an issue. Took a while before our food order was taken around 20mins. Then finished plates were left on table for 15/20mins before main order was taken. Surrounding tables still had dirty plates on them which brought additional flies and bees. But the worst bit was the waiter who asked us to move because he needed the table when there were several empty tables around us. Not gonna play the race card, but fingers are pointing.
Wonderful cosy and unique restaurant... great exquisite and delicious varieties of food offerings.. friendly and efficient customer service... Great beer, wines, cocktails etc offerings... Not to mention delicious and beautiful looking deserts... Great all around... 👍🏼👏👌🤌
