The Royal Oak Exmoor is the original and the oldest of all the Royal Oaks in the area. Originally a 12th Century Farmhouse it has a fascinating history and today it's a traditional Country Inn with 4 star accommodation.
The Royal Oak Exmoor offers the highest quality home cooked food 5 evenings a week ( and Friday, Saturday & Sunday Lunchtimes). We have 10 beautiful en-suite bedrooms which include Super Kings, Kings, and Twins, and a fabulous grade 2 listed thatched cottage located 50m away which sleeps up to 8 people.
We love dogs, all well behaved are more than welcome - and yes doggies can go in most areas of the pub and hotel.

We were made so welcome. Delicious Sunday roast was served quickly and with a smile in this relaxed and friendly country pub. Will definitely visit again!
If you Desire very very well prepared, presented and perfectly cooked food accompanied with well kept Beers and wine combined with excellent service LOOK NO FURTHER. The host Jane pays attention to detail and is very welcoming, if you want to engage in conversation with her she will give you the time. The atmosphere /ambience in this hostelry is very friendly, both to dogs and humans, nothing seems to be to much trouble for the team. The staff are exceptional and again pay attention to detail. We found the food, drink and service at the Royal Oak outstanding. We shall make regular visits you can never have to much of a good thing. And many thanks to Steve for taking the time to tell us about the property.
Wonderful to go back to The Royal Oak after many years. Beautiful cosy decor, great service and amazing freshly looked food. Landlady, and bar staff were so friendly and welcoming, and we loved the new decor, snug and large party entertainment space that has been created. We will visit again when we are in Exmoor next year.

Hello, It's difficult to write reviews when there are no comparison options. But Jane and Stevie are a couple that is second to none. The way you interact with your guests and yourself is an experience you won't forget. We stayed there for 3 nights and the dinner evenings were unforgettable. Quality of the food, presentation, no rush, there was a lot of love behind every course, what more could you want. Thank you, it was a nice 3 days. Ivo
