Edit: after the pub's response I understand this was a medical emergency and have revised my rating. Just surprised they didn't tell us at the time there was an issue or we could have understood immediately! Came in here 4.30 on Sunday. We did ask if they were serving food. They said no issue. At 4.40 we go to order and they tell me kitchen is now shut until 5.30. I can see the chef or kitchen staff sitting near the bar saying that he doesn't know or care who's in the kitchen but it's not his issue. Manager has also now suddenly disappeared. Complete waste of time.
Love this pub. I had lunch there with my Mom a few weeks ago and I've been back twice since then. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Yesterday's chicken kiev was delicious but slightly on the oily side. We love the food though and recommend the Royal Oak to anyone. My new favourite place to meet friends for coffee or lunch in Marlborough.
Fabulous Sunday lunch and chicken & bacon sandwich. The chefs in the kitchen, Ashley and Casey, are fantastic!! Food was delivered quickly, hot and delicious. Staff on the bar were friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Thank you Aurora, Lily and Roxanne. Was an absolute pleasure to have lunch here. Great atmosphere, lovely warm and friendly pub. Highly recommend a visit here!!
Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch & very nice drinks too. The chefs in the kitchen, Ashley & Casey, are brilliant!! Staff were friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Lovely warm & friendly atmosphere. If you haven’t been here you need too! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon
Lovely ambiance in the beer garden on a sunny Sunday. We enjoyed our drinks so much that we decided to stay for dinner. We were advised by staff at the bar that we’d best order the Sunday roast before it ran out. Big mistake. Not only was it the was the worst Sunday roast ever, it was the worst meal of our entire 2 month stay in the UK. We could not believe that the kitchen even considered serving us such an embarrassment of food. The Yorkshire pudding looked like a dry flat biscuit. The meat was overdone. No amount of gravy could fix this. The pork belly was unrecognizable. How can you even make pork belly dry and woody? No wonder it had to be hidden under the cabbage leaves. Big disappointment and sadly a waste of good money.
