Staff pleasant with a friendly atmosphere . Food good and reasonably priced. I had the small portion of fish and chips and my partner had the steak and ale pie. Both were good. The only thing is that you cannot get a glass of rioja, which I prefer to the others available
Great location, great food and well kept real ales. The meat platter for one was a sensation! Super dog friendly, they even have towels at the door for muddy feet😁
We returned again to eat at the Royal Oak after enjoying a meal on our last visit. We were not disappointed as the food and service were as fantastic as before. We ordered some nibbles to start, followed by a steak pie, the tomahawk pork steak and the large fish&chips. The meals were cooked perfectly and the staff were really friendly and attentive which made our meal a really enjoyable experience. We just about had space for a pudding which was also really tasty. Overall, a really lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. We will be back again on our next visit in February.
Stayed for a couple of nights this weeks. The staff were super friendly and the rooms lovely and clean. The breakfast was bang on and plenty of choice. I would definately recommend and stay again. Things worth a note. There is is no milk for the tea/coffee in the rooms. I am sure they would give you some if you ask but last thing you want to have to do once you have got to your room. The second is the showers take a while to warm up. I think this is just because of long pipe runs. Again not a problem but run the shower for a couple of minutes before jumping it. Amazing shower once warmed up though The location is dead centre of Keswick so plenty of choices for food and drink nearby. I choose the Dog and Gun almost opposite which was top notch. There is no parking included but plenty of pay and display car parks nearby. Just build into your cost as about £11 a day.
Beautiful, character Inn, great central location. Excellent customer service and facilities. The room was lovely and spacious but lacked a little in the details. Being an old Inn, the noise travels around easily (into the night an from early morning) The shower needs an upgrade and grout/paint re-doing. For over £200 for one night the details really matter. Still had a great night away and would stay again.
