Pleasant Saturday lunch after a nice morning hike in the beautiful countryside around the pub. My only niggle as a vegetarian is that the vegetarian options were very sparse, so I chose soup and salad only to be told that the soup contained beef stock. The salad was, however, extremely nice.
This is a wonderful pub for Sunday Roast. It is set up as a carvery and meats are excellent. The chef doing the carving pays attention to the customer and ensures they get what they like, done the way they like. The vegetables were tasty and well prepared. Of course, the atmosphere is traditional with a cozy feel. I wish I could give a 5 star rating. The 4 star rating is based on the service we received. It took a long time to get our drink order taken, a very long time to get cocktails. Server had to be reminded to bring water to the table after the first request. We requested the bill and our server disappeared. I had to go and find her and she was sitting engaged with her phone. She was quick in response when I said we really wanted to pay now. She was pleasant and sweet, but it did come across that the serving staff could use some additional training.
We have been coming to the Rusty Gun for a number of years for our Christmas Family meal. I must reinforce that the set up this year was superb - the service was superior to previous years, as was the atmosphere of staff and the place. The food was delicious - although the meat a little dry. All 16 of us had a tremendous experience - gone from pack us in over two sittings to a real fine dining experience - thank you James, Ash and all for making our Christmas Lunch one of the best xx
Food was amazing as always, absolutely love the atmosphere every time we have been, nice and chilled. Service has never been an issue here either would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to go.
Great stop off pub. Went here on a bike ride for a quick burger and drinks. The burger was incredible and tasted soo fresh. Also the chips were perfectly cooked and tasted like they were cut that morning. Also all on 1 plate which was so much easier to eat from. Compared to a lot of pubs that decide you need 3 different bowls for a simple burger. Highly recommend !
