Daryl the Manager of The Royal Oak made the Rowing members very welcome with a complimentary buffet, after the naming of Coastal Rowing Academy Club new Celtic Longboat "Captain Tim', in honour of a wonderful man who helped the club. The Rev Canon Holben conducted the ceremony and naming, a family friend of Tim and his wife Brenda. A fitting tribute to an amazing and beautiful man. 🚣♂️
This is a gorgeous pub in a superb location. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The place feels cosy and authentic without the hint of pretentious that often accompanies similar venues. We had Sunday lunch. The Yorkshire puddings were great, but that's about all that was. The rest wasn't awful, it just didn't match the experience I had at the place a few years back. It's a Greene King pub with standard pub chain menu. I expect a better standard of food for the price charged on this occasion. I know it's a lovely location, but Greene King Sunday lunch is half this money. Home cooked roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese would make a big difference.
Just had Christmas dinner at the royal oak, wonderful place, wonderful staff and excellent food. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you royal oak.
Lovely food but very slow service, feel like staff doesn't know what to do or lack of communication.
Beautiful location. Lovely drinks on taps, good service but the food is really mediocre. The most exciting fact is that you can arrive in the early evening with no tide (sea) at the doorstep and leave at the end of the night with the sea lapping at the door. Visited Sep 2022 and Sep 2023.
