Awful food, awful service. We went for a birthday dinnwer and it was strange that we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Christmas weekend. After being seated and ordered drinks we were total ignored, and it took an hour to get our main course. Second round of drinks never arrived after ordering. Very disappointed.

Called here as we had a two-hour wait die to train faffing about and had a lovely time few drinks nice atmosphere will definitely call in again if in the area. Only didn't give five stars as there was no food due to power issues.

Honestly this was awful Firstly we witnessed a customer explaining how they were unhappy with their starter, the waiter took the plate away and we saw them handling the food in the kitchen, he brought it back out and said that's how they are and if the chef cooks them again they will be the same ! Then he complained about his main and rightly so one of my table had the same meal , ham and eggs, again the staff were dismissive. Our meal was awful, lasagna was cold and the ham and eggs again badly cooked eggs and the ham needed to be cooked for longer, the chips were old and inedible. The menu is not has stated on the website. Considering this was the first week under new management the atmosphere was awful, not sure who and where the new owners were. Shocking- you really need to step up your game, the locals are you bread and butter and we dont like paying for food and service that is horrible.

Brilliant stay at The Royal Inn, every member of staff was friendly and welcoming and the hotel is in a fantastic location. Arrived for a 4 night stay to be greeted by a lovely woman at reception who checked us in and showed us to our room. Location: The hotel is in an ideal location with Par station a 2 minute walk from the hotel door, you have a choice of shops and local takeaway to choose from all within a short walking distance of the hotel. The noise level was quiet at night and despite being next to a train station you rarely heard the trains. Parking is available but when the Inn is busy it can be lacking, we did not go a night without the car being in the car park though. Room: The room was generous in size and had an ensuite bathroom, although they did have a slightly dated feel as the lock required a key on both sides of the door, however this did not take anything away from the room itself. Rooms came with a large bed and sofa in addition to desk, tv, mini fridge, fan, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and wardrobe. The ensuite bathroom was a good size and came with a bath/shower combo in addition to small toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and soap) which was a nice little touch to the room. The only negative we found about the Inn was the cleanliness of our room, no major issues, just the odd dead fly on the windowsill and cobwebs in the bathroom. Food: Opting to pay the additional £20 for the breakfast option in the hotel and this did not disappoint, . We enjoyed a cooked breakfast everyday, with the meat being locally sourced. Continental options and cereal were also available. We also chose to eat in the hotel one evening and was impressed by the variety of main meal options and the quality of the food. In summary I recommend the Royal Inn Par and would definitely stay here again when visiting Cornwall.
