Nice welcome by the owners and great service from them too. Room was cosy and spacious. Nice Scottish breakfast to start the day.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Rosemount - again we were not disappointed! Staff are welcoming and friendly - both to ourselves and to our dog Billy (it’s his favourite hotel in the world!). Room was comfortable and clean with plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits etc provided. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. Location is perfect for walking in to town with ample car parking. We will certainly be returning- the owners go to a great deal of trouble to make your stay enjoyable. Thank you!

Myself and 3 others stayed here last week for one night. When we arrived to book in, the lady took our details to check but then went completely off what she was doing and started to check an app on her phone for the chief about a plant odd customer service. Our room was a little tired in respect of decor and 3 floor tiles in bathroom were cracked. We went out for a evening meal and a drink and decided to end the evening back at out hotel for a night cap, but on our return at 9.15pm found the whole carpark in darkness making it very difficult to to find out way around. Once we were we disappointed to find out all the doors to the bar area were locked with no other access to the bar and no staff to question why, after looking around went off to bed. On leaving in the morning I asked why the bar was closed, the reply was the staff work hard enough in the day and long hours so if not enough people are in the bar we close it.

My wife stayed here with her colleague for three nights in two seperate rooms the two guests were more than happy with there stay until the final night where my wife asked me and our 10 month old baby to stay with her. And when we phoned about dinner on the sat night we got told there would be a £15 surcharge for the additional guests because it was single occupancy room witch we accepted and paid for and this did include breakfast. My wife’s colleague got a round of drinks and was told he didn’t have £10 change to give him and he didn’t have the key for the safe could he collect his money in the morning. In the morning He asked for his money back and got told they would give it to me as I was leaving later than them due to still not having the key to the safe. I had breakfast witch I did asked for no mushrooms or tomato but it came with beans bacon egg tatty scone half a slice of black pudding and half a slice of haggis and tea and my 10 month old only had half a slice of my toast for his breakfast and no drink as I had some with me. All he used in the hotel was a high chair. When I checked out that morning there was no mention of any £10 refund or owning any money for the baby to be staying until my wife mentioned it to me later on that day. My wifes just phoned the hotel today to speak with a manager as she wants to ask about the £10 ( in embarrassment because they didn’t give that gentleman his money back because of the baby) and she got told it was for the baby’s breakfast but it was half a slice of my toast from my breakfast ( when questioned about that the owner then told me it was for the use of the high chair). The lady very rudely spoke to us saying we were shouting when we weren’t and they’re kept speaking over her when every time we tried to speak to her she spoke over us she wasn’t interested in speaking or resolving this all she kept saying was put it in writing. We wanted to ask about the &10 and get the gentleman’s refund she also tried to say we tried to sneak a baby into the hotel ( at no point did we every try and sneak a baby in) witch the receptionist gentleman also know about the baby coming as my wife had previously asked him about a high chair and that her room didn’t have a hair dryer twice and still hadn’t received one. The gentleman sorted us out for dinner including the baby and he also knew the baby was staying on the sat night witch he was fine with, we the parents included the cot and everything for the baby that he needed. she also told us it’s very irresponsible for us as parents to come to the hotel and not tell them there was a baby coming. How could it be possibly irresponsible of us as we knew exactly where the baby was at all times as he isn’t walking so in the event of a fire or any other emergency one of us two would have had the baby with us as the baby at any giving time is not alone. The annoying thing about it isn’t the fact they wanted us to pay £10 for a baby to have half a slice of toast ( sit in a high chair or have thousands of pounds worth of roofing over our heads) however it is that that gentleman didn’t get his money back and the money owed was on us as the parents not the other colleague The staff working at the hotel re great and we had no other problems with them the problem seems to lye with the owner herself who isn’t very interested in any sort of complaint, discusting customer service. And I don’t recommend this hotel because if there is any issues the owner herself isn’t interested. And if you do stay here and they don’t have change to give you don’t leave before they give you your change as they won’t give you it as they will make up yet another excuse

I wanted to wait at least a week before writing this review so it was meditated and not ill willed. I knew I made a mistake when, right after booking, I received a form that I should fill in to order breakfast in advance. I would perfectly understand this for the cooked options, but you must specify beforehand exactly what you will consume in the morning. Cereals? You must choose between corn flakes, krispies, crunchy nuts or porridge, so think it carefully. Hot drink? You need to know in advance whether next morning you'll fancy a coffee, a tea or a herbal tea. Juice? Please decide now if orange or apple. Would you like some fruit? You must specify if tomorrow you will fancy a banana, an apple or an orange, and so on. They argue this is because of their "commitment to reduce food waste to the minimum", but I have been working in hospitality for years, our guests always have enough choice in the morning, and we never waste a breadcrumb, so let's leave food waste to poor stock management. Now, we checked in around 6:30 pm and the young woman at the reception looked terribly stressed and annoyed at our mere existence, even if the place was dead quiet and there were only a few guests around. I was travelling with my father, a 77 year old man who was too tired to go down to the village. So we went back downstairs at 8 pm and asked if we could maybe sit in the salon to have a cup of tea and something sweet she could find in the kitchen, anything. No, the chef had finished his shift: we could have tea and coffee, but absolutely nothing to eat. But we didn't want anything cooked in the first place, couldn't she give us anything? A muffin, some biscuits, a bowl of cornflakes, a yogurt, a banana? No, no, no and no: she-had-just-said that the chef had finished his shift and that was all. We went back upstairs and munched our courtesy shortbread fingers in bed. The service at this place has good reviews, so I don't know whether this person was overworked that day or if she simply didn't like us, but in the salon, a few locals were sipping on their gin tonics, and dogs were lying comfortably on the carpets, being served water and treats. And my elderly father couldn't sit and have a wee yogurt before bedtime because "the chef" had finished his shift? Well, that's a nice creepy miserable little place you are running, people, so good luck with it. I attach pictures of the delicious, preselected food we had access to in the morning, once the chef started his shift. (As a positive note, they are dog friendly.)
