Visited here with my husband, young baby and dog on a Saturday afternoon as we were staying in the area. We had an enjoyable meal and were made to feel welcome - there’s even a dog station with water, biscuits and blankets! Lovely view of the river - imagine it would be great to sit outside in the summer.
Always had the best experience here. Staff are attentive and friendly but not in your face. Food is incredible and just as described. The views are beautiful but the staff is what makes it so good :)
PROS: lovely staff, amazing location CONS: my brother ordered the seafood mix platter - the 2 shrimps on the "platter" were not deveined and still had the shells on. There were 2 other tiny pieces of fish on the "platter" and a couple of baby potatoes, no green salad and no actual seafood like squid, scallops, octopus etc (except the 2 shrimps). The whole plate looked sad
Ordered a roast dinner, the potatoes weren't fresh, more like frozen Aunt Bessies. Described as being Goose fat potatoes, but very dry and powdery. Vegetables were lacking and broccoli was hard, not cooked. The cheese cake wasn't as described, although still nice, it didn't come with chocolate sauce or chocolate ice cream and instead vanilla and with strawberries without any explanation from the waiting staff. Food wasn't the same as described on the menu. The waitress was seemingly moody and not waiting until we finished our requests before she walked off and ignored some of us. We asked for some food to be put in a take away box and she threw it into the box as if angry, not expecting such a reaction and the manners of the staff were a bit disrespectful. Asked for one birthday candle for the cake we ordered and the waitress looked confused, pulled a face, didn't come back with one and didn't explain. Lack of communication from the staff to guests it seems and it wasn't very busy at all. I was expecting more from such a popular place, but won't be coming back as the food was disappointing. I've had better in local pubs Sunday lunches with fresh food.
Popped in fir lunch today. Lovely warm welcome from the staff and surroundings. Nice varied menu not too pricey. Three courses served hot on hot plates, tasty and well presented . Coffee machine was broken but we happily had instant coffee that too was lovely and hot. This was our third visit and we will definitely be back
