Had a lovely meal at The Rose Revived yesterday. Was really impressed for my first visit. Was made to feel welcome by the friendly and hard working staff - Paul and Nick - as was every other customer in the pub. Nice to see the real fire going in the fire place, perfect for a cold January day. I thought the food was delicious and well cooked. I even noted some vegan choices on the menu (but sadly the main wasn’t available so that is the only issue i found). I had a glass of the Shiraz which was good too! Another aspect is the music it is not your normal run of the mill piped stuff, but thoughtful and well put together play lists to suit every taste pitched at just the right level not to overpower, but blend in and add to the atmosphere. Finished off the visit with a coffee in front of the fire chatting to a group of the regulars - again another friendly welcome and it was great to meet you all gents, thank you for yr company. It all combined to make a really lovely afternoon at The Rose Revived.

We booked with a group of friends for our annual Christmas lunch. We requested the marquee and everything was agreed in advance, number of attendees, arrival time, menu, etc When we arrived the marquee was locked. When we finally entered it is an understatement to say we were disappointed. It was the saddest place I have ever seen. Stacked chairs, dirty floor, a line of mistmached wooden table, not a Christmas decoration, no tablecloths (they said we were expected to bring our own tablecloths). They eventually put a joke of tablecloth, some cutlery and a few cracker after we complained. The food was inedible, we paid the full price as requested but the starter was miserable and the salmon was so dry it was basically inedible. The pudding tasted horribly. It was clearly old. The staff was unprofessional and very rude. I will not go back there ever. Avoid this place of you can.

Lively setting, we had the Sunday Carvery which looked really nice, unfortunately the vegetables were not cooked, so difficult to cut through them. Think we were just unlucky as it was busy and perhaps in a rush to get food out. Will return to see if better next time.

This was my first time visiting for the carvery lunch and I wasn't disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and polite throughout our visit nothing was too much trouble for them. The meat was cooked beautifully and there were 3 choices you could have.We were given the option of kids, large or XL serving, large option was more than enough as you serve yourself there was a great selection of vegetables. The pub is very popular so be prepared for a wait.A lovely selection of desserts available although, when we ordered they were in the process of serving the outside area which had 30 people,so did have to wait. This hasn't put us off though we will definitely be returning for another meal. The only issue with this pub being so popular is there is limited parking available.

My mum, two year old and I visited, hoping for a nice lunch on 13/06/2023. We were greeted by a polite member of staff, who was at the time, behind the bar. We were offered a table inside or out. We chose inside as it was a little too hot for my daughter outside. We tried to order drinks, the waitress said she wasn’t sure about one of them so went to get it for us to take a look. (My mum asked for cloudy apple juice). A gentleman then appeared, who I would assume is the manager. He proceeded to take our order stating the apple juice was cloudy and we ordered our lunch, off of the lunchtime menu at the same time. I opted for the “steak and onion ciabatta” and my mum had the “gammon and mustard”. The wording on the menu would suggest this is fresh steak and gammon but oh no, it was left over carvery meat, with the beef having been heated back through in gravy. It was almost inedible. I did my best to eat it but felt as if I was going to be sick so I discarded the rest. My mum also tried to eat hers, as we were all really hungry but it was clear the meat was not fresh. My daughters kids meal (burger and chips) was absolutely awful. She loves food but refused the meal (apart from a few chips). This was a burger straight out the freezer. Not one part of her meal was fresh. The chips even tasted as though they had been reheated. The server came around before we had started eating and then was not seen again until the end of our visit although it was quiet. (Only one table of two inside and a few drinkers out). When we challenged the freshness of the food, we were told it is fresh and they clearly did not care. Even though the food was inedible, they did nothing. No offer of replacement food (of course we would’ve declined) or monies taken off of the bill. Not even an apology for us being dissatisfied. Very poor customer service and even poorer quality of food. The entire place was grotty. I’ve attached pictures of their carvery serving station, which we were sitting adjacent to, which was not served on a Tuesday but had not been properly cleaned up in quite some time. Having spent years in the pub and bar industry myself, I would definitely say avoid. If the places you can see are that dirty, it churns my stomach to think of the cleanliness of the places you can’t! If we had seen how dirty it was before eating we would’ve left. We went passed the carvery serving station as my daughter was taking a walk while waiting for our bill. Even the paving around the building is hazardous, the pointing has crumbled and the majority of pavers are loose. It’s really sad, years ago, it was a really nice country pub.
