About us

A favourite with the townspeople, who use it variously as a watering-hole, the place for a spot of lunch or a celebration dinner, we have won national awards. Twice named in the Top Ten UK pubs in the last three years, it was voted Best Pub in the UK in 2004.

Our secret? We take huge pride in serving the best ingredients we can find, form ethical producers, freshly prepared by our chefs. And we do it at pub prices, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The pub is open every day from 8am for breakfast and coffee, with lunch served from noon and hot food available all day. If you’re from out of town, we also have 5 smart and reasonably-priced bedrooms.

Had a great Burns night dinner at the R&C, food, wine and service was all perfect. We made a mistake on the bill that was our fault and the staff alerted us and corrected it for us. Highly recommend if you are in Warwick.

After a lovely Christmas dinner in December we were excited to come back and use our special offer. Our table was next to a log burner and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. I was a bit surprised that we had our dining table in an area with customers accompanied by dogs. One of the dogs must have "spoiled the air" before our food arrived so for me dogs and dining don't mix unfortunately. The food was overall ok - the starter was very good, my local market fish was excellent, but the potatoes were cold. My husband's portion was very small and he was not impressed. When I tried his fish it was not seasoned well and the potatoes not fully cooked. The fish & chips we ordered for the kids was probably the best choice. The drinks were also nice and service friendly. Overall, the pub is lovely and I'll be back for drinks but in my view the food is overpriced for what you get.

A group of us went on a Saturday night for a meal. First impressions, good, decent Guinness well poured. Starters - good. Mains - I had to chase mine up after everyone else had theirs. When it arrived I had to remind them about the sides I'd ordered. When those came they were wrong. My burger was nice but some of my friends' food was cold (potatoes and fish). Dessert - my fault for not noticing the Sticky Toffee Pudding was made with vegan ingredients but it really was not good. Not even vegans should have to put up with that. Staff were friendly but the service was average and a bit slow. Such a shame as the place looks nice and well positioned.

The pub is situated in a lovely area and offers a pleasant atmosphere both indoors and outdoors. The service was commendable, and the staff were friendly. Regrettably, the portions were on the smaller side. I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which cost nearly £20, but it was hardly filling enough for a single meal. We ended up spending over £70 for three meals, and we all left feeling hungry. This pub has great potential, but I would need better value for money to consider returning.
