Love this place! A great pub, friendly staff and landlord, food is fantastic, customer's are great, always love going to this place, totally recommend a visit.
Had lunch here. Chose the fish gumbo which did not disappoint. Just the right amount of spices and fishy content. Lovely granary bread and butter to accompany. Apple crumble for pud. Superb. Very traditional atmosphere and roaring fire, candles and Xmas Dec's still up! Cannot fault. We booked a table and it's a good job as it is very popular. How have we never spotted this place before?
Great staff lovely atmosphere excellent service, a pub with character, a real fire and great ale ( Tideford 5%) not to be missed. The men's urinal has been out of commission for some time now and it will be good when this can be fixed but the individual WCs are in good condition and very clean and well cared for. My friends and I had a really lovely time again at the rod and line today and we hope to be able to visit again soon - would highly recommend this pub
What a great village pub. Real ale, good food and atmosphere. I have stayed here a few times now over several years as part of a group of 6 to 9 people. Really enjoyed it every time.
This place made us, as non-locals, feel unwelcome. We had read reviews and arrived looking forward to fresh locally caught seafood. The gumbo was sold out, by 5pm…. That’s fine. I then opted to have scallops but discovered they only offered frozen chips as an accompaniment! They had some fresh new potatoes for locals, non-locals had to have frozen chips. Nowhere should ever serve frozen chips with fresh scallops. It’s sacrilegious. Decided to leave. It made us feel discriminated against.
