Great food, open fires and real ales - The Robin Hood is a great country pub that's within an easy drive from Newcastle.
The Robin Hood sits amidst the wild, stunning countryside of Northumberland, adjacent to Hadrian's Wall and close to thr historic towns of Corbridge & Hexham. The Pub offers fresh, local produce, roaring fires, local cask ales and a warm Northumbrian welcome.
The Robin Hood Inn dates back to 1752 and is constructed with traditional stone. and it is highly probable that the stone used in construction was "borrowed" from Hadrian's Wall. The owners would dispute this fact, if English Heritage or our Italian friends tried to claim it back.
The wall is under the Military Road westbound carriageway
Our car park is in fact on the North Ditch, which continues noticeably on the west side and is just over the fence at the west end of the car park and the trail drops into it there.
The Vallum Farm over the road, is in fact the site of the Vallum which can be seen going westwards from the farm.
The pub consists of a small separate bar with open log fire and good crack; a lounge bar with oak settles, daily newspapers and fire and our unique cocktail bar and very grande restaurant.

First time I’ve been in over 20 years. I was not disappointed, the food was lovely! Staff were very attentive and service was excellent. We had a great evening and won’t be leaving it as long to return.
We visited on a recommendation, for our son's 18th birthday. Service was very good and starters were good, if only a bit small. However, there was a 40 minute wait for our mains. When they arrived, they were dry and tepid. I suspect they were under a heat lamp for a long time. The manager removed 10% from the food bill, but this was small recompense for food that was very pricey to start with. I won't be returning.
I visited the Robin Hood Inn for a wreath making class with a group of friends. The package was £65 and included a welcome tea/coffee and mince pie, wreath making class, glass of Prosecco and a two course lunch. Superb experience. The stuff were friendly and welcoming, the wreath making was brilliant and the food was of a high standard. Would recommend.
Brilliant. A fine British pub, great at being a fine British pub! Great beer, honest hearty & really tasty food, with superb helpful & friendly service. Good mix of diners & locals, giving a great atmosphere. What else can you possibly need. Cheers 🍻
If you are walking The Wall, this is a great place to stop. The staff is super as was the fish and chips and sea bass. We had a Guinness on the back patio after our day on the Wall and it tasted so good. But, again, the staff was really, really good. So helpful. The only downside is the rooms were very small.
