About us

Robin Hood Inn is a 17th century coaching inn, renovated in the mid 19th century. The doorway has carvings of 2 men in Lincoln Green and is inscribed “If Robin Hood be not at home come take a pot with little John” In 1830, the body of Thomas Townsend was displayed here. Also on 30th October 1920 customers of the pub were injured in a charabanc accident at Oxenhope. Now local chef Matthew Browne and his wife Sally offer freshly cooked food and friendly Yorkshire hospitality to all who visit the Inn.

I've been to the Robin Hood Inn several times. The pub always has a warm and friendly feel to it. The food is amazing and the service is always second to none. Its a great place to visit during the summer months as the garden is great too, with great views. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. 👍🏽

A disappointing experience. Whilst the Robin Hood is a fine example of a traditional British Pub with a great range of beers and an inviting welcome, the food does let this place down. I opted for something from the specials and whilst the chips were great the rest was bland, poor and I suspect reheated mass produced rubbish that you’d find in a well known bargain basement pub chain. I really wanted the food to match the ambience of the pub and it fell well short. Not somewhere I would recommend.

Tis the season etc…. So have now been for to two meals in eight days. One lunch and one evening. Lunchtime was busy so we had to eat in the bar. That was fine though, just means if you want a seat at a proper table, book first. Two meals for £20 is a good (lunchtime) deal but they were also very tasty and prepared well. A week later and an evening meal. Had the wait longer than would have liked nearly a hour, but was in good company and so not too much of an issue, it was worth waiting for, nothing over salty, well presented and the service is very friendly. I hope they keep the chef as will be back in 2024. Recommend!

Stayed for one night with 3 dogs and had a fabulous evening. It was truly dog-friendly. The staff were super friendly and efficient. The (family) room was basic, but perfect for our needs and the bathroom was huge and well heated so we were able to dry all of our waterproof gear plus the dogs coats. The evening meal and breakfast was delicious. The location is also excellent, and we enjoyed visits to Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge and Haworth. Would love to stay again and highly recommend 👌

Called in for a drink and a meal after a walk. The festive menu was excellent: we went for veggie choices, of which there were many imaginative options. The meat dishes looked good too. The food was excellent, especially the ginger and cranberry nut roast. So was the beer. Good to see zero alcohol beer on draught (Lucky Saint), so much tastier than from a bottle.
