Built in 1896, the pub was originally called The River Wyre Hotel, local reports at the time said that it attracted some very distinguished guests.King Edward VII was once seen drinking here with a group of gentlemen, and in the 1940's British stage and film acting couple Barry Barnes and Diana Churchill were regular visitors. It is thought that nearby Fleetwood was the first planned town of the Victorian era.

We were on vacation over Christmas and decided to stop here because it was dog friendly (2 sausage dogs in tow🤣🤣) and seemed to have a good menu. There was 3 of us. I had the slow cooked pork belly, and it was cooked to perfection, and as a crackling lover, it was amazing. Mash was very flavourful. The whole dish was great. My sister had the homemade pie of the day which I think was chicken and mushroom and she absolutely loved it. My nephew had the signature burger which he said was probably one of the best burgers he had ever had. Absolutely worth 5 stars, amazing food, very friendly staff, and a nice fire burning. Thank you for the experience and the wonderful food. Would not hesitate to go back there if we are in the area again.
Called in for a couple of shickers, the fires were 🔥 roaring. Derek suggested the mini Yorkshire puds filled with beef brisket & wow I was in food heaven, they are amazing !! Absolute food game changer for a nice nibble, cheers Derek, we'll be back ! 🍻 👏
Always thought about trying this place but never have. Glad I finally have. Food was really tasty, open fire kept you warm. Dogs are welcome too. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Amazing roast dinner...best we have had for ages. Service was outstanding from Jemma. Food arrived quickly and was delicious.... will definitely be back !
Absolutely amazing customer service & food! We had the leak & potato soup and the mushrooms for starters and they were delicious! We had the chicken & curry for our mains. Derek was so kind and informative when he greeted us and showed us to our table. He asked if we wanted any other drinks and if our food was nice. All of the food was lovely! This was our first time at this restaurant & we will definitely be back and will tell our friends and family. Cass was also so kind and helpful. Dined on 1-11-2023 at 4:30pm.
