Don't be fooled by the name it's just a pub not an actual hotel. Went on a Sunday evening, was quiet but pleasant. Barman was attentive and pleasant. It serves beers and spirits - enough said :-).
Lovely little pub, and was quiet for the time of night, 10.45 Saturday. No fraught cider, so had to settle for a bottle of Koppaburg, which is lovely too.
I do NOT want to give this disgusting place any stars at all. Overall I am disgusted with the lack of cleanliness and the lack of contact from the owners of the property since making my complaint on the night I stayed with family (9th Dec 17). Everything was dirty, the cutlery in the drawers the drawers themselves, the beds had hair in ... one looked like pubic hair. The showers weren't clean and had hair in. There was black stuff hanging from one of the bathroom taps. A cigarette butt behind one of the cupboards, the velvet headboards thick with dust, cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, a broken window on the landing, an empty beer can left beside one of the wardrobes and worst of all a used condom in one the drawers. We didn't wash there, we didn't sleep in the beds I slept fully clothed on top of the bed with my coat over me, we definitely were not going to eat there after seeing the old dirty cutlery in the dirty drawers. The kitchen units are falling apart. One of the facias fell off in my hand. And the amount of stuff that was left behind from previous occupants was shocking... gone off milk in the fridge and cartons of used orange juice and butter and old food and random teabags left on the kitchen surfaces. Broken smoke alarms and lights not working. I wonder if this property has all the relevant safety documents in place. I think a visit from the Council, Environmental Health and Fire Safety Officers is required. My son's dad lives in Liverpool and is a fire safety officer so I should ask that he pay these cowboys a visit. No one picks up the phone when we call ... mobile number... it's been almost a week now since I left a message to be called back and I've heard nothing! I want my money back! How the hell they had the nerve to charge £770 for one night is beyond me. The place is a dump!! We left this disgusting place before 10 am so we could all go home to shower. 3 hour drive.. all that way and all that money ... what an utter disappointment. Fisrt time ever in Liverpool and this place is giving it a bad reputation by ripping off visitors. I doubt the local mayor would be happy about that. I Will be writing a formal letter of complaint to everyone mentioned in addition whoever you are licensed with to let this property... that is if you are even licenses.. it seems unlikely. One of the bar staff had to take £20 of his own money out of the cashpoint so that we could get our refund on the key fob because the lying bar manager said he would leave our deposit behind the bar to collect when we left and he did not. I hope he gave that bar man his £20 back. Falsely advertised as an apartment, and by the pictures you'd think luxury but it is nothing more than a dirty flat above a very noisy pub. Who rents out a property above a pub that puts speakers on the outside walls blaring music out all night. We could barely concentrate on our own conversations in the flat. Disgusting disgusting disgusting... don't pay this place any money until you've checked it out first. I can guarantee all you need do is stand outside the pub and listen to the racket from the music blaring from the speakers on the walls outside and you will not want to stay there. But if you go inside you'll definitely give it a miss. Rest assured i will pursue this until I get a full refund. Just to be clear this review is about the apartment above the the pub, not the pub itself.
Nice pub. More suited to the mature person but great central location in Liverpool city centre. Smallish pub, but has outdoor seating & tables with the 'jukebox' on a speaker outside & in. Good range of drinks and reasonably priced. Recommended, especially if it's warm & sunny!
I stayed here last night with my family and the apartment beautiful unfortunately I will not be staying here again . The place looked like it had not seen a duster in a while or and cleaning products found beer cans and hair everywhere, used condom in a draw and WC facilities well not hygienic at all , hair in the bed we didn’t even sleep in them due to this Draws handle fell off in my hand it was shocking . And not worth the 700£ we paid for . The apartment needs TLC and soapy water on everything. When we spoke to the bar man down stairs he said he only manages the pub not upstairs however I feel he wasn’t being totally honest I may be wrong but if you are coming up to change a light bulb and provide the fob to get to the appointment and take the deposit money you must have something to do with it . Over all experience not good at all.
