About us

A quaint gastropub at the heart of Cranleigh village, serving exceptional British seasonal food & drink.

Working hard to retain the period features in this historic building, The Richard Onslow hope that their modern and unfussy approach to decor, service and food will give you the perfect place to celebrate, spend time with friends or simply unwind with a coffee.

Our team of chefs have designed a menu featuring traditional pub favourites as well as something a little different. Our menus will always make the most of seasonal ingredients, while combining the best of great British cooking and influences from around the world that are now part of our culture.

We have well-kept local real ales on tap and continental lagers. Our wine list is accessible and sensibly-priced. We’re as keen to wow you with the quality of our house Merlot as with a single estate Pinot Grigio. We also serve exceptional spirits at pub prices, pouring Tanqueray gin and Ketel One vodka as standard.

We also have 10 boutique guest rooms available, offer breakfast, fair trade coffee and have a wonderful secluded private dining area.

Incredible staff. Quality managers. Great beers. Delicious food. Reasonably priced. Well run and top end atmosphere. I will 100% come again. Peach pubs should be proud to have this pub as one of theirs!!

We stopped by here after dropping our daughter off to her boyfriends. Unsure on rooms etc but food was fantastic! We showed up 5 mins before the kitchen was shutting and they still took our order! Fantastic customer service from the young South African girl didn’t get her name. Food was amazing I had steak my partner had the burger. Steak was cooked too perfection. Will definitely give this place another go if we are ever back down in the area.

A warm and welcoming weekend in a perfectly positioned hotel. The rooms were clean and well presented. The manager and her staff couldn't do enough to make our weekend an enjoyable experience. Saturday night we decided to eat in and we cannot fault the food. The steak from the Christmas menu was amazing so was the cheeseboard. We shall return.

Charming old pub with guest rooms and large restaurant. Full of locals on a Sat night. Great menu! Only problem was no heating in our bathroom which was like a fridge! And naturally the noise from the bar doesn't abate till closing time

The standards have always been hit or miss here. 9 times out of 10, It's a miss. Breakfast, overcooked poached eggs were apologetically replaced with undercooked ones. The 3 cheese Croque madame was served on a black serviette. I removed the serviette as soon as it was brought to the table. When I looked inside, there was literally no cheese at one end. When I looked further, I found remnants of serviette embedded in the bottom of the sandwich. The American style pancakes were good but did look anaemic. Though my child wasn't impressed with only getting 7 Smarties with the luxury hot chocolate. A refund was given for the 80% uneaten Croque with a discount for the poached eggs. The service was good, but I just wish I could eat here with confidence.
