About us

DISCOVER A QUALITY FAMILY RUN TRADITIONAL INN LOCATED IN THE HEART OF ABERDEENSHIRE..

Whether you plan to hike, cycle, golf, visit castles, distilleries (Glen Garioch is on our doorstep) meet for business or just take some time out to relax, The Redgarth is well suited to any of these activities. Aberdeenshire has some of the most varied landscapes in Scotland from rugged mountains, tumbling mountain streams, fertile lowlands and one of the most ornate coasts in the country. The town of Oldmeldrum lies to the west of Aberdeen, just off the A947 (20 minutes from Aberdeen Airport) where narrow streets and interesting houses reflect the irregular plan of a medieval market town. Oldmeldrum itself means 'burn of the bare hill ridge' from 'Allt' meaning burn, 'Maol' bare and 'Druin' ridge or hill.

Please see our 'Local Attractions' page for more information.

IT ALL STARTED WHEN...

The Redgarth ( Red House in its Garden) was built as a house in 1928 by a local baker called John Gordon. Occupation followed by an excise man Mr Robertson, who also catered for bed and breakfast before selling the house to the Earl of Winchilsea. Over the years although many upgrades have taken place the building essentially remains as it did when it was first built.

1961 - 1980 Bill Paterson (Grocer) - First drinks licence traded under"The Redgarth Cocktail Bar"

1980-1987 Duncan Porter (Grocer) food introduced in Jan 1982 and kitchen and dining area added
